We have increased the number and type of in-person events, webinars, and digital content. The Communications Department promotes and drives participation and awareness of our ministry.
We do this through our websites, CRM optimization, monthly newsletter, and other digital communications.
The Communications team. Our team consists of an Interim Director of Communications, SJI President, Marketing and Communications Manager, and external Webmaster host.
The Communications Department drives traffic to our programs, promotes fundraising campaigns, and increases awareness of SJI across social media and within the Catholic community.
The Department's primary goal is to promote our in-person and online events, on / off-campus programming, and increase overall awareness of our non-profit.
Overview :
The Saint John Institute seeks a 4-month Communications Contractor to assume the Marketing and Communications Manager's responsibilities while on leave beginning May 2024.
This is a hybrid full-time position. This position may be filled by an individual or an organization. The Communications Contractor will report to the President.
Contractor has no direct reports. Contractor will interface with all ministries and departments. Mass offered on site when available.
Office hours are 8 : 30-5pm Monday-Friday. SJLN and Development will support some responsibilities (see asterisk (*) below) during the contract period.
Summary :
The position is responsible for managing digital communications, creating and managing social media, promoting events, creating email communications, managing the communications calendar, and maintaining the customer database.
The scope of responsibilities includes the following :
Websites
Responsible for monitoring and uploading accurate content to all websites and working with the webmaster for troubleshooting
KEAP / CRM Database and Optimization
- Create email blasts and campaigns to promote events, courses, retreats, fundraising
- Send weekly podcast emails through Keap database
- Work with Development to import Kindful contacts into Keap
- Create landing pages in Keap
- Clean out spam and de-dupe contacts
- Attend planning meetings on quarterly campaign needs
- Import Brushfire contacts
Brushfire event registration
- Create and maintain Brushfire events and Zapier integration*
- Manage / edit / publish the registrations*
Digital communications (email, social media, text)
- Execute email event promotion schedule
- Create sequences for events from initial click to targeted end points of engagement
- Manage social media strategy, cadence, and frequency of social media posts
- Increase engagement with viewers on all social media channels and posts
- Send out weekly texts for Leadership Live talks* and Glance at the Gospel* messages
- Monitor marketing inbox, respond to inquiries
- Maintain the Communications Calendar (social media and emails built in sequences)*
Monthly Newsletter
- Coordinate, edit, and send the monthly 1st Friday newsletter utilizing the Keap (a news digest).
- Use the Events Update to promote all events open for registration, and to share "save the dates"
Analytics and Reports (optional tasks depending on contractor's qualifications)
- Produce analytics, reports, and presentations of findings
- Evaluate results of email communications in Keap
- Recommend the best messaging strategies to increase engagement
- Complete data collection and marketing analytics tracker for digital communications and websites
- Review unengaged contacts and run re-engagement campaign
- Prepare a monthly marketing initiatives report and planning meeting for the team
- Develop an evaluation plan with the Chief of Staff and Communications team
Other
- Troubleshoot all communications issues
- Respond to inquiries from SJI / SJLN / SJLI web contact forms or ensure correct person does
- Update TV video monitor with weekly announcements on our main campus*
- Update trackers for event details
- Update Mass calendar for SJI and text contacts the Mass updates*
- Create flyers or other event marketing materials as requested by the team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated knowledge of KEAP
- Demonstrated knowledge of CRM databases
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to adapt, be flexible, and multi-task in a fast-changing environment
- Experience with creating and managing content on social media and Adobe products
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with team and volunteers
- Enthusiasm, teamwork focused and strong customer service orientation
- Willingness to abide by our Statement of Faith and organizational culture
Education and Experience
Required :
- Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, or Media, or related experience
- 1-2 years of experience with managing media
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite including Teams
Preferred :
- Experience with building effective targeted media communications and campaigns
- Demonstrated experience with developing appropriate broadcast, print and social media content
- Experience working with non-profits or faith-based organizations
