Selective Insurance is looking for a Claims Analytics Manager for our Charlotte, NC office. This Position plays a critical role in shaping the strategy of claims analytics and leading the data analysis for the Claims operation.
Partners closely with the Claims leadership team and other functions within Claims to develop reports, metrics and dashboards that support both Claims and business initiatives and compliance with associated regulations.
Works on special projects requiring sophisticated / in-depth analysis. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manages a portfolio of reporting and analysis needs for the Claims function.
- Develops and distributes scheduled reporting and analysis, including but not limited to metrics for claim volume trends, incurred trends, litigation trends, productivity trends and staffing models.
- Performs descriptive analytics by producing and analyzing Claims metrics and identifying data trends.
- Develops tables, charts, and graphs including executive summaries for internal and external clients.
- Ensures adequate review is completed prior to publication. Meets all distribution deadlines.
- Produces complex statistical analysis to solve key business issues in Claims. Highlights trends, patterns, and relationships through data analysis and develops actionable recommendations.
- Develops predictive models that help identify effective business strategies for the Claims department.
- Utilizes Cognos Analytics to build complex reports and dashboards. Develops a solid understanding of sophisticated software, including data analysis, data management, data visualization, and data mining procedures as well as predictive modeling and additional data techniques.
- Works with other various functions in the development of metrics to support their areas and other Claims projects.
- Leads periodic data reviews and cleanup processes to ensure Claims data accuracy.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
- College degree
- 5+ years of experience developing analytics, reporting and providing actionable recommendations driven by data. Master’s degree in math, economics, or computer science or an applied statistical certificate from an accredited college is preferred.
Property Casualty Claim Industry experience required.
- Meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project prioritization skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with audiences spanning from peers to executives.
- Excellent written communication skills; ability to clearly express thoughts and ideas through documentation.
- Expert proficiency in most standard business software applications especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to generate reports and build dashboards utilizing Cognos analytics.
- Ability to develop a good understanding of Statistica or other analytics software for use in complex data modeling / analysis.
- Must be able to make concise business recommendations based on data.
The expected starting salary range for this role is $106,000 - $152,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint.
