The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Ombuds / Program Manager.
ROLE of the POSITION
Reporting to the Ombuds, the Assistant Ombuds / Program Manager provides support for Ombuds Office casework and programming and is responsible for ensuring effective business operations in the Ombuds Office's delivery of programs and support for UNLV faculty, staff, and students.
In addition to daily operational tasks, this position is responsible for managing business and fiscal operations; planning, developing, and coordinating the office's workshops and outreach services;
ensuring effective customer service operations, and supporting the creation and implementation of strategic goals and initiatives.
Under the supervision of the Ombuds, the Assistant Ombuds / Program Manager will meet with individual visitors and groups bringing concerns and develop, promote, and deliver skill-building workshops and presentations for faculty, staff, and students, working with the appropriate administrators to, when appropriate, integrate these workshops into educational and professional development programs.
The Assistant Ombuds will operate by the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the International Ombuds Association (IOA) and the University’s vision and mission.

The Ombuds Office is unique at UNLV in that it and its staff are designated neutrals, meaning that they do not show preference or advocacy for any one group of employees, or the university administration.
The office is informal, meaning that employees and students can discuss their concerns without triggering a disciplinary or investigatory process.
And, as an independent unit, the Ombuds Office and its staff are fully autonomous in their operations. Finally, the use of the office is confidential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and / or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and at least 1-3 years of experience with, and commitment to, maintaining confidentiality, as well as a willingness to undertake continuing professional development in conflict resolution and related fields, including the International Ombuds Association’s CO-OP certification.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of the IOA Foundations Course
One to three years experience in conflict resolution or a related field
Current IOA CO-OP certification
A minimum of 40 Hours of Basic Mediation Training
Intake and case management
Training in facilitation and / or conflict coaching
Experience in working in an ombuds office
Master’s degree or certificate in conflict resolution, law, psychology, human resources, or alternate dispute resolution

SALARY
Salary is $80,000. Unable to offer more than the stated salary range.
