Shift - Friday to Monday 4x10's 1st shift

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Quality Technician 4 works under low supervision to perform a standardized set of duties and responsibilities to support the QC / QA operations for a designated manufacturing location.

A technician at this level supports three or more key functions in the location's Quality Engineering department. They will be proficient in most department tasks, demonstrated by performing a variety of technical tasks.

They are cross trained in a variety of quality roles and will effectively train less experienced staff or production members as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma required, AA degree or technical certificate preferred

8 years of related quality / inspection experience in manufacturing

Working intermediate level knowledge of excel, SPC, and graphing tools

Able to read blueprints, including dimensional drawings and GDT

wide expertise in inspection and quality tools

Knowledge of SAP preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs complex functional tests and inspection following established procedures and work instructions. Will update or create new work instructions related to quality processes, may approve the work of other workers.
• Maintains test machines, test fixtures, instruments and documentation related to department procedures. Will be responsible for collection and storage of metrics or other key departmental records / data.

May present this data in a variety of forums.

• Troubleshoots and repairs test and inspection equipment utilizing standard techniques for calibration and testing. The technician 4 will apply subject matter knowledge of all inspection tools and practices and will be widely cross trained.
• Evaluates known quality issues identified by test and / or inspection results and reports findings in a professional and technical way to key members appropriately.

Demonstrates business acumen in determining what and with whom to share information. May train others on report writing using QA data, may check the findings of other workers.

Compiles quality data using appropriate tools, including excel, graphs, SPC charting methodology and customer specific reporting tools.

Applies close vision, and computer vision to identify non-conformities.

Is trained in the entire disposition process. Reviews and dispositions product, properly classifies defects identified through testing and / or inspection process.

Understands escalation process clearly and can handle process questions for less experienced technicians or operators. May evaluate the work of others and audit disposition process.

Calibrates test equipment or lab machinery as needed to maintain QC / QA operations. May work with an outside vendor or subject matter experts to ensure compliance.

Understands key company metrics and goals related to calibration and control. May train others on calibration and tracking processes.

• Solves routine production quality problems with standardized forms and solutions. Regularly participates in discussions and offers suggestions for new solutions or protocols.
• Works on assignments / projects that are moderately difficult, requiring independent judgment in resolving issues, identifying, and communicating with key parties, and in making recommendations.

This may include creating new department procedures or work specifications. The technician 3 will apply wide QA experience to support other members projects as needed.

Will perform in-process or other audits on behalf of the Quality department for a variety of functions in manufacturing.

Must be able to walk, stand and crouch to visually inspect parts, machines, work process, interview machine operators, and create related documentation.

Demonstrates effective, professional communications with a variety of employees, vendors, customers, and outside parties.

This communication include verbal and written, as well reports, presentations, meetings, trainings, and phone calls.

Demonstrate a very high degree of integrity and accuracy to ensure parts and processes create a high-quality part for our customers.

Reports concerns or findings promptly to the appropriate parties. May issue CARS or other internal quality alerts.

May act as a lead or back up to supervisor / manager as needed for other technicians. May handle escalated matters which are time sensitive, may lead projects as assigned by QA Manager.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
