The role focuses on our global Reinsurance Property Treaty business, with particular emphasis on the Americas region. In this role, you will be the go-to person for Property-specific underwriting topics that require expert insight, to keep our exposure within the company's risk appetite, and you will interact with many internal and external stakeholders from different functions.

The role also involves strong business acumen.

In this role, you will :

  • Shape Swiss Re's position on critical coverage aspects in Reinsurance Property
  • Provide expert perspectives and guidance to underwriters on emerging opportunities and challenges related to primary and reinsurance coverages
  • Support client and broker interaction on relevant underwriting topics or coverage needs at the fringes of Swiss Re's risk appetite
  • Handle underwriting referrals to Property Treaty Centre and Property CUO
  • Maintain and refine Swiss Re's Property Treaty Underwriting Standards
  • Work on strategic underwriting projects related to our risk appetite
  • Coach and train Swiss Re's Property underwriting community

About the team

We are an experienced and business-focused team with 7 members located in several offices across the world. The team is hosted in the Reinsurance Property CUO unit and has three areas of responsibility : (1) Maintain actuarial models and support costing of complex business, (2) shape Swiss Re's position on critical underwriting topics and handle referrals, and (3) steer the portfolio including smartly allocating underwriting capacity.

Ultimately; we, ensure that the P&C Reinsurance Business Unit builds a resilient Property Treaty portfolio. We proactively steer the dialogue on underwriting topics that require a global view.

About you

Experience

  • Excellent understanding of US Property re / insurance market and ideally global experience from working in other geographies and multiple client segments
  • Profound end-to-end underwriting expertise spanning exposure assessment, modelling, costing, reinsurance coverage, contracts drafting and negotiation
  • Ability to effectively engage senior stakeholders
  • Languages : proficient in English (written and spoken), Spanish is a plus

For Armonk, NY and New York City, the estimated base salary range for this position is $156,000 to $246,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity / specialization / scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
