Founded by tabletop director Steve Giralt, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.
Our flexible process allows us to lead projects from creative inception to completion or collaborate on specific project stages.
We love technical jobs and working with VFX supervisors and live for pushing the envelope - always up for complicated jobs that make your brain hurt.
In this hybrid world where practical effects are constantly being merged with CGI or Unreal Engine Virtual Production, it’s important that we all speak the same language so we can collaborate to tell amazing brand stories.
The Garage has a 10,000 sq foot facility in Brooklyn’s Industry City. With five directors on the roster, a full-time special effects team, five cinema motion control robots, Virtual Production LED Wall, a full-size commercial-grade kitchen, and in-house prop storage, we’re perfectly suited for creating fantastic and innovative work.

WHO YOU ARE
As the Director of Business Development and New Business, you will be a dynamic force within our team, passionately pursuing new clients and opportunities.
Your expertise in sales ideally within the brand, advertising or marketing sector will empower you to knock on doors and forge meaningful connections with brands and corporations.
Your target market will be food, beverage, and CPG brands.
You are well-connected in the industry, boasting a robust network of professionals to collaborate with, and you thrive on building those relationships.
Driven and enthusiastic, you’re always eager to share the exciting work we do at The Garage. With your finger on the pulse of industry trends and changes, you can identify innovative paths for growth and expansion.
Your passion for growing a brand will be instrumental as you work to expand our client base and define new verticals for The Garage.
This hybrid position allows for some in-person work at our Brooklyn studio while providing plenty of remote flexibility. You will collaborate closely with the CEO and our production team to ensure seamless alignment between business development and project execution.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement proactive strategies to drive income and sales, focusing on both immediate and long-term revenue growth.
- Identify and define new verticals that expand The Garage’s offerings in the industry, ensuring alignment with market demands.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with potential clients through networking and direct outreach, striving to establish retainer-type relationships that promote ongoing collaboration.
- Leverage a deep understanding of The Garage’s capabilities to effectively sell our full range of services and solutions to clients.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and changes, using your insights to inform and refine business development strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with our East Coast, Midwest, and West Coast Ad Agency Sales Reps to ensure clear communication and coordination, avoid overlap, and ensure a cohesive approach to managing client relationships across territories.
- Continuously seek opportunities to upsell and cross-sell services, maximizing revenue potential from existing and new clients.
YOU HAVE
- 5+ years of experience in new business sales, with a strong focus on sales and business development experience in advertising is a plus.
- A proven track record of bringing in new business and successfully landing large accounts, demonstrating your ability to drive revenue growth.
- A deep understanding of film production standards and practices.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, paired with a passion for networking.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- A proactive and driven mindset that thrives on knocking on doors and seizing new opportunities.
- A keen awareness of industry trends and a vision for where the industry is headed.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal
- Knowledge of existing and new content platforms as they are constantly evolving
- Proficiency in Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets as well as Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
- Competency in working with Zoom, Teams, Meets, Webex, or whatever video conferencing platform is necessary
