Description of Job Duties
The successful candidate for this position must take a student-centered approach to their work in the orientation, family and commuter programs, as well as project management in the following areas : Commuter Student Services and New Student Orientation.

Essential Functions :
- Assist Director in the hiring / managing / training of the Orientation staff.
- Assist Director in the development and execution of Transfer Orientation.
- Manage 8-10 Student Commuter Assistants and their programming for the campus community.
- Provide oversight on the distribution of Commuter lockers.
- Oversee the collection of updated information for the North Central Book, Information Central.
- Coordinate the family newsletters (2x per term).
- Create and manage programming for the December term events (1 per day for 3 week term).
- Other duties as assigned.
This individual will gain hands-on experience in event planning both on the large and small scale as well as advising students, creation, execution and assessment of training programs, supervision of student workers and the creation and implementation of marketing strategies in print, web, social media sites, etc.
The Graduate Assistant will gain direct experience in the application of student development and leadership theories, budget management, publication creation and editing experience, and database management that will prove to be directly related to classroom experiences in the Higher Education Leadership and Organizational Leadership programs.
Upon graduation, the GA will be an attractive candidate for higher education positions in orientation, family programs, student activities, and union management.

- Accepted into a graduate program at North Central College.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills required.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Intermediate skills using MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
