POSITION OVERVIEW
The Oklahoma State Department of Education is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager for Mathematics to oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Mathematics.
This crucial role involves organizing revisions, collaborating with committees, developing guidance resources, and delivering professional development initiatives for districts and at state conferences.
Please note : this role does not allow for any form of remote work, including telecommuting or hybrid arrangements. The nature of this position necessitates a consistent in-person presence.
Prospective candidates should be aware that the responsibilities associated with this role require physical presence at the designated workplace in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, education, or a closely related field official transcripts required upon hire ;
- Possession of a valid teaching certificate in mathematics;
- 2+ years of experience teaching or coordinating the instruction of elementary mathematics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in mathematics, education, or a closely related field official transcripts required upon hire ;

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knowledge & Expertise : Deep understanding of mathematical concepts and principles across various grade levels. Familiarity with the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Mathematics or similar state standards frameworks.
Knowledge of educational standards development processes, including how standards are created, revised, and aligned with national frameworks.
Oversight of Oklahoma Academic Standards for Mathematics : Manage the ongoing development, review, and implementation of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Mathematics, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practices.
Monitor changes in education policy, research, and pedagogical trends relevant to mathematics education, and integrate findings into standards development as appropriate.
Professional Development : Plan, organize, and deliver professional development sessions, workshops, and conferences for educators at the district level and state-wide.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify training needs, develop content, and evaluate the effectiveness of professional development initiatives.
Guidance Resource Creation : Develop comprehensive guidance resources, including curriculum frameworks, instructional materials, assessment strategies, and professional development materials, to support educators in effectively implementing the mathematics standards.
Ensure that guidance resources are accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with the needs of diverse learners and educational contexts.
- Collaboration and Facilitation : Coordinate and facilitate meetings with committees comprised of educators, administrators, and stakeholders to gather feedback, review standards, and propose revisions.
- Professional Development : Plan, organize, and deliver professional development sessions, workshops, and conferences for educators at the district level and state-wide.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify training needs, develop content, and evaluate the effectiveness of professional development initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement : Establish and maintain effective communication channels with educators, administrators, parents, policymakers, and other stakeholders to solicit feedback, disseminate information, and build support for mathematics education initiatives.
Represent the Oklahoma State Department of Education in meetings, conferences, and events related to mathematics education at the state and national levels.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Location : Oliver Hodge Building, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
- Work is typically performed in a climate-controlled office setting with exposure to moderate noise. While performing the duties of the job, employee is frequently required to talk, stand, walk.
- This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time;
- Ability to stand, reach and bend 50% of the time;
- Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine / printer, office telephone 75% of the time;
- Ascends / descends stairs 25% of the time;
- Communicate with others accurately and effectively 100%;
- Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
TRAVEL
20% in-state / out-of-state travel may be required to conduct, facilitate, and / or attend meetings and trainings.
