Position Description

The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics, along with the Seattle Children’s Research Institute Center for Child Health, Behavior & Development, invites applications for a full-time Professor, without tenure by reason of funding, on the faculty-scientist track.

Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Anticipated start date in Fall 2024.

The candidate is expected to sustain a funded research program at Seattle Children’s and the University of Washington in these areas of childhood autism services and more generally in child development and disabilities.

The applicant will also be expected to contribute to our department’s teaching and mentoring mission.

This position provides an opportunity to work at The Center for Child Health, Behavior, and Development (CHBD) at Seattle Children's Research Institute.

Applicants will be have a faculty appointment at the University of Washington and will join a group of highly collaborative research scientists at CHBD with expertise in pediatrics, health services research, psychiatry, psychology, biostatics, and epidemiology.

This position provides clinical service and consultation at the Seattle Children’s Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic.The successful candidate will develop and maintain a primary care pediatric practice focused on assessment and diagnosis of autism in children, as well as primary care for children with a diagnosis of autism and other neurodivergent conditions.

This clinical service will include direct patient care in faculty practice as well as precepting residents.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

The base salary range for this position will be : $18,117 - $27,174 per month ($217,404 - $326,088 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.

S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.

Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.

Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have earned a doctorate degree (MD or PhD or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field with documented expertise in health services research, health policy, epidemiology, psychology, child and human development, sociology, or other relevant fields.

The applicant must already be an Associate Professor or Full Professor or equivalent and be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.

Successful applicants will have a history of and existing research funding and evidence of mature and consistent scholarship in pediatric health services research around autism and other child development and disability areas.

They will also have extensive individual and programmatic experience in teaching and research mentorship of trainees.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.

S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
