To underwrite new business and renewals according to authority level and established guidelines in the NY Construction market.

Be responsible for reviewing and analyzing underwriting data in order to determine risk acceptability, calculate appropriate premium and determine / confirm proper terms for acceptable risks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Review complex policies to verify acceptability based upon company underwriting guidelines and granted underwriting authority.
• Determine whether to accept, modify, or decline risks.
• Utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships within assigned brokers
• Consult with general agents to obtain further information, quote rates, or explain underwriting guidelines.
• Assist in the training of departmental personnel.
• Provide technical expertise to the Underwriting department in determining rate and product changes and during Product Line Reviews.
• Create, analyze, and interpret data from various reports.
• Accountable and responsible for the performance of assigned underwriting territory, including growth and profitability.
• Manage assigned underwriting territory, including management of agents and travel to agent offices.
• Complete all assigned tasks according to department standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Bachelor's degree or three year to five years related insurance experience and / or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of two to four years NY Construction underwriting experience with authority
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Previous insurance educational work (AINS, CRIS, CPCU).
• Detail oriented with initiative and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Ability to travel.
• Proficient in the use of computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience.

Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

New York City Pay Range :

$103,300 - $121,700 USD
