Summary of Position
The Director of Capital Planning and Development will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of major system wide capital planning initiatives, space planning, facilities support and maintenance, and property management strategies in collaboration with the institutions.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in capital planning, space utilization, and property management, with experience in construction and facilities management.
The director works collaboratively with system wide and campus leaders, state agencies, state / local authorities, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the capital projects meet the strategic goals, budget, schedule, and quality standards of the university system.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field or a combination of education and experience equal to 10 years.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in capital planning, space utilization, property management, construction, and facilities management.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale projects and budgets effectively.
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including senior administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external partners;
ability to influence through credibility, integrity and professionalism.
Strong knowledge of real estate and facilities management best practices, including space planning and utilization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM, CPC)
- Experience in complex construction project management in higher education.
- Proficiency in Assetworks is highly desirable.
