Fleet Vehicle Mechanic
FULL-TIME Opportunities available at Tempe Base Location
$20.00-$40.00 per hour Based on Experience

We are hiring a Fleet Mechanic who provides preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles as assigned by Fleet Manager.
Minimum Required Qualifications :
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education
- Must have four years of verifiable experience as a Class C - Associate Mechanic, and automotive knowledge and skills necessary to perform maintenance and repairs on Company vehicles
- ASE and / or EVT Certifications strongly preferred
- Must have a current and valid Arizona driver’s license
- Must have a full set of personal tools needed to complete basic automotive repairs :
- Rachets : 1 / 4 , 3 / 8 , 1 / 2 Drive
- Sockets : SAE and Metric, Standard and Deep
- Extensions : Short, Medium, Long 1 / 4 , 3 / 8 , 1 / 2" Drive
- 1 / 2" Drive Impact Wrench that can R &R wheels
- Combination Wrenches : 1 / 4" thru 1-1 / 8 and 6MM thru 24MM
- Screwdrivers : Flat blade, small / med / large & Phillips, #0, #1, #2
- Pliers : Channel lock, long nose, linesman, wire strippers, crimpers
- Punches : Straight, Center Punch, chisels
- Hammers : Ball pein, dead blow, soft, sledge
- Pickle Forks
- Oil Filter Wrench
- Test light, LED (Power probe or similar is fine)
- Multimeter : Voltage-OHMS-AMPS
- Mechanics Toolbox on Wheels
Responsibilities :
- Perform front line mechanic inspections, preventive maintenance and electrical repairs on both diesel and gasoline vehicles per Rural Metro Fleet Policy and Procedures
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns in the field when requested
- Complete all required vehicle repair and maintenance paperwork and documentation using Rural Metro repair work orders and Rural Metro Fleet Maintenance Software (RTA)
- Respond promptly to road calls, accurately diagnose, and perform quality repairs
- Thoroughly document vehicle repairs and maintenance including a complete accounting of all labor hours, parts, and materials used
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a respectful working relationship with all fleet and operations personnel;
display professional conduct with outside suppliers and contacts
Identify and report existing and potential safety concerns to Fleet Supervision
