Finance Business Analyst Job Description
The Business Analyst will utilize various sources of data to build and analyze business case scenarios across, between, and within all North American Sales Channels (Amazon 1P and 3P, Retail, Steel, D2C Website and 3P Marketplaces such as Walmart and eBay).
This channel-agnostic and economically focused role is responsible for identifying sales and scaling opportunities - as well as potential channel conflicts - between and within all North American sales channels.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have deep mastery and experience in data / sales / gross margin analyses and MUST enjoy constructing economic models and sharing your findings to others including but not limited to : Executive Leadership, Sales Teams, and other cross-functional team members.
It is critical that this role maintains an objective view that is aimed at identifying and revealing opportunities aimed at fostering the best interest of Evolution and its North American business, at large.
This role is the first of its kind and will have a high amount of visibility within the North American team and the International Group.
This role will be reporting to the VP Finance & Operations and will be working alongside each of our Sales Channel Leaders to identify the very best opportunities for the Sales Channels to pursue.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Collect, analyze, evaluate data to report actionable insights to the sales and marketing teams
- Analyze POS data where available with key accounts and communicate any potential sales opportunities to the applicable sales channels related to products, markets, or geographies that are underserved
- Analyze regional product sales and identify geographies, markets, or channels that are underperforming and create a reporting process that offers insight to each channel
- Provide analytical support required for the development and tracking of sales programs, plans and objectives; attend and participate in sales strategy meetings
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate performance to monthly and annual sales goals and forecast
- Evaluate the performance and make recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of digital marketing channels (Search Engine, Social Media, and Email Marketing) and the activities therein including, but not limited to : Customer Acquisition and Retention costs, ROAS, and LTV.
- Analyze the economic results of company promotions and provide recommendations for future variants to maximize sales. Based on previous findings, establish estimated forecasts and financial impact of future promotions to include any potential cannibalization of other channels
- Proactively monitor sales and margin data looking for trends, anomalies, and other insights; communicate findings directly with sales channel leaders
- Support process improvement initiatives and developing actionable reports and dashboards for sales and marketing leadership
- Maintain sales self-service reporting dashboard
- Provide customized reporting and recommendations in support of ongoing strategic initiatives
- Ability to coordinate and manage simultaneous data analysis requests of varying size and scope
- Collaborating with sales and marketing departments on developing and implementing competitive pricing strategies
- Recommend annual price increases or as the need arises based on research of both competitive market conditions and any significant changes to our materials and / or operational costs
- Maintain detailed landed cost knowledge across our full range of products
- Support ongoing unit sales forecasts for new and existing products
- Track placements of dealer displays and any measurable change, or lack thereof, in sales at each branch or in each territory as compared to others without displays
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business analytics or business administration.
- 3 to 5 years financial work experience including Commercial Finance, FP&A.
Desired Characteristics :
- 3-5 years of experience working for a power tool or hand tool company in either a market, sales, product, or financial capacity
- Strong analytic skills : able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers.
- Solid PC skills : experience with financial systems / applications (SAP Business One), strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (i.
e. pivot tables, VLookup, and Macros).
- Data Visualization experience using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Demonstrated success in balancing multiple activities / projects, priorities, and people in a dynamic, fast-growing, results-driven environment
- Ability to communicate complex analysis in clear and concise manner
- Strong verbal, written, and visual interpersonal skills
Working hours :
This is a full-time Hybrid role (Tues-Thurs at our River West Chicago Office and Mon and Fri Work-from-Home) with standard working hours Monday through Friday from 7 : 00 A.M. to 4 : 00 P.M in
