SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Staff Development and Director of Nursing, you are responsible for the design and implementation of staffing schedules for nursing personnel and scheduling of unit staff to ensure staffing needs are met in all nursing departments at all times.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS
- Communicates frequently with the DSD and DON on a daily basis to maintain up-to-date knowledge on nurse staffing needs of the facility.
- Accurately schedules and posts monthly nursing schedules of all shifts.
- Stays in frequent communication with staff regarding shift assignments, call offs, covering shifts, etc.
- Utilizes computer software to prepare, change, and update the master schedule.
- Fulfills staffing vacancies in advance to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Reviews requests for sick time, vacation, maternity leave, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and unpaid leaves of absence.
- Works with HR when scheduling modified work duty employees in accordance with work restrictions and facility policy.
- Keeps DON and DSD informed of personnel needs and scheduling difficulties.
- Communicates with unit managers and other management regarding floor orientation scheduling for newly hired employees in the nursing department.
- Keeps meticulous attendance records of call-offs and change requests.
- Reports staff members who accrue excessive absences and / or tardies.
- Meets staffing needs as instructed by the supervisor.
- Coordinates staff to meet nursing hour requirements.
- Schedules temporary staff from registry as approved by Administrator.
- Schedules within the guidelines of the budget.
- Assists with in-services as needed or requested.
- Assists in providing facility tours to newly hired employees.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent employee information.
- Assist with record keeping for facility in-service education, and orientation classes for newly hired personnel.
- Assist with applicant calls and coordinating interviews as deemed appropriate.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Must minimally possess a High School diploma.
Staffing experience required in a Long-Term care setting.
Nursing experience preferred, but not required.

This position requires the employee to work minimally 8 hours per day, five days per week. Additional hours and days may be necessary to ensure adequate operations of the facility.
