True Abundant Life Community Outreach is seeking a dedicated Grant Writer to join our team part-time in support of our FreshStart Re-entry & EmpowerYouth Leadership Legacy Programs.
Our Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and (DOJ) government agencies.
This role is crucial to supporting our mission of empowering youth, assisting ex-offenders, and offering comprehensive community outreach services.
The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and a passion for non-profit work.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist with researching grant opportunities from foundations, and (DOJ) government agencies
- Write, prepare, and submit compelling grant proposals and applications tailored to the requirements
- Manage the grant application process from start to finish, ensuring all deadlines are met and required documents are submitted
- Collaborate with program directors and leadership to gather information for proposals, including budgets, program goals, and outcomes
- Develop and maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, reporting dates, and renewals
- Track and report on the status of submitted grants and maintain relationships with funders
- Stay informed about True Abundant Life's programs and services to effectively communicate them in grant narratives
Qualifications :
- Proven experience in grant writing for non-profits, ideally with successful grant awards within DOJ
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear and persuasive proposals
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal funding sources, as well as foundation and corporate grant opportunities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with the needs of underserved populations, at-risk youth, and re-entry programs is a plus
