Position Summary
Ohio Magnetics, located in Maple Heights, OH seeks a talented Electrical Designer to design Industrial electromagnets and electrical systems.
The Electrical Designer will use Electrical design and simulation software to create the most cost-effective solution to meet customer requirements.
This is an individual contributor role and reports to the Engineering Manager.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop AC-DC and DC-DC control systems, battery backups and rectifiers for electromagnets per industry and company standards, servicing scrap handling, overhead crane and ferrous separation industries.
- Support Sales, Purchasing and Manufacturing in quoting, specification and assembly of standard and custom electrical assemblies.
- Develop and release product drawings, manufacturing process and service manuals.
- Ensure product quality through electrical testing methods; test finished products and system capabilities as required.
- Provide technical support to sales, manufacturing and customers as needed.
- Follow proper engineering processes including design testing, validation, BOM structure and ECR / ECN processes.
- Create testing procedures for current and legacy designs
Experience and Education Required
- Associates Degree in Electrical or Controls Design or applicable electrical design work experience.
- 5 or more years of related job experience with fundamental knowledge of design and development of control systems and circuits in industrial applications.
- Ability to efficiently organize, communicate and execute to meet targets in a job shop environment.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and with a team.
- Physically able to complete field installations or troubleshooting as related to product validation.
- Advanced level proficiency with all MS Office, Solidworks (or similar CAD package) as well as BOM management in an ERP system.
Travel Required
Domestic and International Travel approximately 15%
