Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive : A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology; or 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
Two years of professional experience in information technology.
Transfer : Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18;
OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 3, SG23 within Chief Technology Office / Business Application Services / Labor Workforce Education / Worker’s Compensation Business Solutions, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting incidents and enhancements to the Claims Information System (CIS) application as well supporting development for the WCB OnBoard Program and related projects.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to :
- Develop application code using various technologies and products, such as : C# / .Net, PowerBuilder, MS SQL Server and Sybase
- Resolve production issues
- Develop and analyze system enhancement requests
- Interact and coordinate tasks with various developers and shared services teams
- Perform system analysis and develop system specifications
- Adhere to and enforce IT standards, guidelines, and best practices
