• Ability to work effectively as a member of child development team, with children, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a quality educational program
• Ability to demonstrate a nurturing, warm, and supportive attitude when interacting with children; ability to relate to children as individuals and in small and large groups
• Effective communication skills, both with children and adults
• Ability to work with and be sensitive to a culturally diverse community
• Experience working with preschool-aged children in a center-based environment
• Familiarity with federal and state health safety regulations applicable to a child care facility
• Thorough understanding of child development and the philosophy and methodology of early childhood education, as well as changes taking place in the field
• Ability to plan, organize, and direct a challenging developmental and instructional program for kindergarten and preschool age children.

Ability to use sound judgment

• Knowledge of developmental needs of children ages 2 1 / 2 to 5
• Knowledge of appropriate activities (physical, emotional, language, social, and cognitive) for this age group
• Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, or an equivalent combination of education and 2 years experience working with children age 2 1 / 2 to 5 in a center based facility.
• Current California Child Development Program permit at teacher level or higher
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications
• At least 2 years working in licensed center-based child care facilities

Preferred :

• Knowledgeable of NAEYC Accreditation Criteria
• Three to six units of Infant Toddler course work.

Special Conditions :

• Absence of active TB and other immunizations as required by Community Care Licensing
• This is a in person position, teachers may be assigned shifts between 7 : 30 AM- 6 : 00 PM, Monday- Friday depending on the needs of the department
