EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT FOR VIRTUAL LEARNING MIDDLE OR HIGH SCHOOL

Primary Purpose :

Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under supervision of a virtual certified teacher.

The educational assistant position is in-person working with a virtual teacher.

Qualifications

Education / Certification :

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Successfully pass a skills assessment test

48 College Hours / Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred

Special Knowledge / Skills :

• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word documents

Experience :

Preferred experience working with children, in a public education environment

Essential Job Functions :

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual scholars or small groups.
• Help supervise scholars throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual scholars.
• May perform duties at either elementary or secondary campus.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
