FUNCTION :

Responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial related activities of the property. Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results, performance against budget and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.

Ensure compliance with all Gaming regulations and company policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Directly responsible for all facets of accounting, budgeting, strategic planning, contract review, treasury management, purchasing and receiving, and credit and collections.
  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Evaluate progress of meeting short and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Serve on planning and policy making committees.
  • Serve as the property's designated BSA Compliance Officer for regulatory purposes.
  • Ensure that the accounting staff is knowledgeable of, and follows the directives stated in Title 31.
  • Assist internal and external audits and ensures accuracy and completion in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the accounting staff is accurate and timely in the preparation and review of all financial reporting, investigating variances, and making sure corrective action has been taken.
  • Analyze financial results and accounting information including benchmarking data.
  • Manage and develop all direct report staff.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image when performing duties or representing the Nugget and encourage others to do the same.
  • Oversee the preparation of daily revenue reports and their comparison against budget projections and previous years' performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard the assets of the organization and to ensure proper segregation of duties and detection of fraud and compliance with all Title 31 and Gaming Board regulations.
  • Direct accurate recording of capital expenditures and all fixed assets including proper componentization of expenditures.
  • Ensure all taxes and regulatory documents are filed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Analysis and interpretation of financial statements for the property.
  • Coordinate with external audit firms and participate in the annual audit plan of the operation.
  • Direct the formulation, compilation, and presentation of departmental budgets for the entire operation to ensure that the short term and long-term business plans and needs are adhered to.
  • Analyze trends and identify problems and requirements pertaining to management needs, auditing, and other fiscal procedures.
  • Maintain the security of all financial reports and see that all appropriate records are retained for the required lengths of time.
  • Oversee the operation of the Vault / Cage as well as the Drop and Count functions.
  • Ensure all invoices are paid within the given terms and agreements.
  • Administer preparation of annual / monthly reports and other analysis pertaining to evaluation of all operating department's performance.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professional integrity and ethics in the performance of all duties and assignments.
  • Coordinate and monitor the financial aspects of special projects and expedite their completion.
  • May be required to oversee other departments on property.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the property, as well as current and upcoming special events.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure staff complies with safety procedures including use of required safety equipment and identifies unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Address guest concerns and or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Using the Nugget's system of recognition, recognize team members who are going "above and beyond" as appropriate.
  • Knowledgeable of and consistently follow Nugget policies and procedures as well as appropriate local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform work in a safe manner and always maintain a safe environment for fellow team members and guests alike.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, team member or guest incidents to Security, Management, and the Safety Manager.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image for the Nugget when performing duties or representing the Nugget and encourages others to do the same.
  • Regular predictable attendance is required.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS :

Reports directly to the VP / GM with a dotted line to the Chief Accounting Officer.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  • Strong computer experience, management, and organizational skills, with attention to detail are required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, be polite, and always present a neat appearance.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be available to work all shifts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION LEVEL :

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • A Master's degree and / or CPA certification is preferred.

LANGUAGE :

Effectively communicate with others both verbally and in written form using the English language.

EXPERIENCE :

  • Seven to 10 years recent previous related accounting experience within a gaming environment is preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of Supervisory or Management experience preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS :

  • Must possess thorough knowledge of the Federal Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR) regulations and requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel and have knowledge of general ledger and financial reporting software. Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting software system.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of mathematical computations, statistical reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

LICENSE / CERTIFICATION :

Nevada Employee Gaming registration is required.

Alcohol Awareness Certification may be required for special events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift, and move product up to 75 lbs.

Fine finger manipulation.

Work environment may include smoke and variable temperature, lighting, and noise levels.

Work may be performed indoors and outdoors during special events.
