Reporting To : DESIGN DIRECTOR

Location : Z SUPPLY Office Costa Mesa, CA

Work Type : Hybrid In Office 4 days a week / Friday work from home

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Design Assistant to join our growing creative team. In this role, you will work directly with the Design Director and Merchandising and Design team across various tasks.

This position will assist the design team at key points across the development season. This position will also maintain and manage the fabric library / boards, color cards, style descriptions, inspiration and proto samples.

They will also assist with updating google seasonal design docs, product descriptions, MSRP, etc. In addition to these key tasks the position will also assist with various duties listed below.

POSITION DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with sketch updates including color and / or print updates as well as detail and trim updates
• Assist Design Director / M&D Team with seasonal documents
• Create, update and maintain seasonal R&D documents
• Create, update and maintain all design documents - category pages, all in one and merch masters, for each division including style info, fabric detail and retail prices
• Create, update and maintain production handover documents for each division
• Create, update and maintain product description documents for each division and work with Ecom and Sales team to see the document through process
• Updating SKU count before major milestones and meetings
• Create, update and maintain seasonal color palettes - both digital and physical
• Compiling KEY color, trend directions utilizing multiple forecasting platforms and runway
• Keeping color samples updated, organized and in delivery order
• Pulling Pantone options to color match to bought samples, mood boards, etc.
• Calibrating color palette to match Pantones and or samples
• Creating all files for seasonal color palette and adding pantone information
• Researching color name ideas and assessing if names are available on Full Circle
• Fabric Sourcing :
• Prepare New fabric development swatches for PD
• Build and keep up seasonal fabric books with vendor details for dept referencing fabric.
• Styles Names, numbers and Descriptions :
• Cross checking new names on our website, B2Z, and style number doc and keep style name list up to date
• Collaborating with design and PD to approve proposed style names for each season
• Create style and number description Docs for all Divisions
• Mood Boards and Tears :
• Pulling inspiration from wgsn, Pinterest, other brands, social media, etc.
• Helping to create digital or physical mood boards when needed
• Print Ideas :
• Researching trends and pulling prints from print houses
• Pulling print trend tears
• Assist Design Director and PD team to prep work for key meeting
• Assist PD team with gathering and organizing proto samples, lab dips and strike offs
• Organize and maintain Inspiration samples
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
• Other various duties for Design Director and Department as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

• Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop
• Super organized and detail oriented via spreadsheets and Google docs
• Excellent team player with the ability to be supportive, collaborative across multiple team members and departments.
• Creative thinker who can brainstorm innovative ideas / strategies to support brand initiatives
• Excellent communicator.
• Design school graduate
• 1-2+ Related experience a plus

Frequently / Continually required to stand, sit, walk and utilize hand and finger dexterity

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Design Assistant

Salary Range

$24.00 - $30.00 Per Hour

As required by applicable pay transparency laws, Z SUPPLY provides a range of compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements.

To determine starting pay within the hiring range, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, role / level, a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, internal parity and other relevant factors.

Flexibility outside of the salary range listed may be considered based on additional skills or qualifications a candidate may possess that may justify additional compensation.

Company paid health benefits, PTO, bonus and other various company perks are not included in the salary range listed above and are considered additional compensation.
