Job Summary
The Credit Analyst Supervisor will oversee a team of analysts responsible for analyzing the loan packages of a specific market / area.
Manages the loan pipeline designated for their area by assigning a variety of loan types to analysts, commensurate with skill and experience levels, and ensuring that reviews are completed in a timely an accurate manner.
Performs independent analysis on more complex packages and coordinates with loan officers, market, and executive management to ensure that any deviations from the Bank’s loan policy are notated.
Essential Functions
- In coordination with management, the supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of assigned staff, including, but not limited to, assigning and directing work, interviewing, hiring, training, counseling, and performance reviews.
- Manages the completion of all credit monitoring functions for a designated portfolio including spreading and review of financial statements, borrowing base, covenant testing, and credit scoring.
- Responsible for maximizing analyst performance in relation to goals through coaching, regularly scheduled one on ones and team meetings, providing real time feedback and creating formal coaching plans to address performance deficiencies.
- Conduct training to supplement corporate training including on cash flow analysis, credit decision summary preparation, and credit processes;
- Oversees analysts performing floor plan inspections; reviews analyst findings and reports to lending management;Reviews the credit decision summaries of individual analysts for accuracy and completeness;
Performs quality control on various loan monitoring tasks such as financial statement spreads, covenant calculations, and credit scoring.
- Completes independent analysis on complex credits or those with unusual structure and / or unique industries; in coordination with Loan Officers and lending management, presents alternative structure recommendations based on industry knowledge and research.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of the Bank’s financial spreading software, loan system, cash flow analysis, and other credit systems / tools.
Coordinates with system owners and credit department management on system-wide updates or other project implementations.
- Attends loan committee meetings, both regularly scheduled and on an ad-hoc basis, to answer questions regarding analysis and present decision summaries to the committee.
- Participates in Asset Quality Management meetings on an as needed basis. Engages with Credit Officers, Loan Officers, and lending management to monitor loans in AQM review.
- Manages the ordering and review of appraisals and completion of real estate evaluations.
- Coordinates with leadership on readiness of BDP Analysts to transition into lending. Provides feedback on individual analyst’s credit skills, comprehension of the Bank’s loan policies, understanding of the market’s borrower portfolio, interpersonal communication skills, ability work within a team;
input will be used to determine an analyst’s overall readiness to move into a lending role.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required. Accounting or Finance degree strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in commercial credit analysis or similar role with demonstrated comprehension of the application of financial theory to borrower credit worthiness.
- Excellent underwriting skills, including strong familiarity with C&I and commercial real estate loans.
- Ability to direct, lead, and motivate others in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to interface effectively and professionally with senior / executive level management.
- Proficient in the communication of technical information both verbally and in writing to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must have excellent judgement and decision-making skills with the ability to effectively resolve escalated concerns from the staff and stakeholders.
- Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems.
- Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, accountability, and attention to detail.
