The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine is seeking a board-certified Cardiac Anesthesiologist to serve as chief of its Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology.

The University of Minnesota Medical Center is a quaternary care academic institution with an adult and congenital cardiac surgical program that cares for about 1000 patients per year.
A key strength is the heart failure program with a well-developed cardiac assist device and transplant program, and a very strong lung transplant program.
The Department of Anesthesia is committed to discovery, innovation and compassion in patient care, to research and to the education of future leaders in anesthesiology.
Areas of focus within the Division are : Enhanced Recovery after Cardiac Surgery (ERACS), right heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, bloodless cardiac surgery, and echocardiographic education (students, residents and fellows).
All faculty within the division are fellowship trained with advanced certification in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography.
Background Requirements
- Completion of an accredited ACGME Anesthesiology residency.
- Board certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
- Board certified in Cardiac Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
- Training in Critical Care Medicine is desired but not required.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Advanced Certification in Echocardiography.
- A track record of original research and publications.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in team leadership and the mentorship of younger faculty.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in resident and fellow education.
- Eligible for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level.
- A clear vision for advancing the subspecialty, experience collaborating with ICU teams, cardiologists and other colleagues, and proven leadership skills in crafting the future of the division.
