Position Purpose :

The Content Program team develops customer-focused instructional content designed to position The Home Depot as the most helpful brand for the home and creates a seamless, cross-channel experience for the customer by forming partnerships with internal teams (e.

g., Orange Apron Media, Brand Creative, Organic Social) to ensure content transcends channels and aligns with the marketing editorial calendar.

The Manager, Content Program is primarily responsible for distilling the strategic vision for "How-to" content and the DIY landing page into an actionable plan, driving content creation by managing the end-to-end content lifecycle, identifying content development opportunities, and mapping out editorial calendars.

As a trusted representative of Content Program, the Manager will build relationships with peers on adjacent teams (e.g., Brand Creative, Orange Apron Media, Organic Social, Online Creative Ops, and more) to launch cross-channel content campaigns and serve as a key day-to-day resource for external agency partners.

In this role, the Manager, Content Program will ultimately be accountable for Content Supply Chain operations, driving continual process improvement, optimizing content performance, and coaching team members.

Key Responsibilities :

40% Strategy & Implementation : Partner with the Sr Manager in translating the program’s strategic vision to an actionable plan.

Identify content development opportunities by monitoring competitive trends, distilling audience insights and customer-research, and mapping out the end-to-end content lifecycle.

Helpdevelop and maintain editorial calendar for content creation. Partner with Earned Media, Category Experience and other marketing teams to prioritize content requests and intake process.

Collaborate on Gen-AI initiatives as they relate to How-To.

35% Partnerships & Relationship Management : Understanding of the Content Supply Chain and CMS that effect content development.

Foster a close working relationship with key internal stakeholders (e.g. SEO, brand, social) to secure prominent content development, deployment and placement.

Partner with product management teams to improve CMS, escalating performance issues for resolution and advising on the prioritization of key features needed to create and distribute content.

Serve as a day-to-day POC for external agency partners and contractors.

25% Manage Projects : Communicate content development timelines and expectations, leading project meetings, establishing workflows and standard operating procedures, balancing business needs vs technical constraints, and eliminating bottlenecks.

Helpdefine the optimal KPIs for tracking and measuring content performance and transaction achievement. Synthesize insights.

Direct Manager / Direct Reports :

  • This position reports to the Senior Manager, Content Program.
  • This position has 3-5 direct reports.

Travel Requirements :

Typically requires overnight travel 5-20% of the time.

Physical Requirements :

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions :

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications :

5+ years of experience with progressive responsibility in content creation for marketing.

Prior experience managing creatives at The Home Depot, another leading firm within the retail sector, or a top marketing agency.

Proven project management skills with a track record of overseeing multiple workstreams, leading development opportunities, delegating tasks, and delivering assets on time, on spec, and at budget.

Passion for educating consumers through instructional content, user guides, and tutorials.

Experience applying best practices to improve upon workflow processes and interpreting audience insights from on-site performance reports.

Deep functional knowledge of the Content Supply Chain and Content Management System (CMS) infrastructure.

Demonstrated interest in Generative AI applications within content creation and an understanding of common use-cases.

Familiarity with UX design principles and SEO best practices.

Background in measurement and reporting with a strong understanding of E-commerce KPIs.

Proven leader with strong time management skills and the capacity to work independently, effectively managing a heavy workload with competing priorities and tight deadlines.

Aptitude for working collaboratively with cross-functional team members, driving internal partnerships, and interfacing effectively with senior Marketing leadership.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with prior experience acting as a POC for external vendors and leading change management within an organization.
