Health and Wellness Director (Director of Nursing, DON)
The Health and Wellness Director (HWD) is responsible for the overall implementation, delivery, and coordination of resident services at the community.
This person also carries out supervisory responsibilities within the nursing department and as delegated and directed by the Executive Director in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsible to ensure the highest level of care and customer service is maintained within the community in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

- Familiar with and keeps current with the state regulations governing Assisted Living and assists to ensure compliance within the nursing department
- Assists with development and implementation of nursing department policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine rounds, looking for opportunities to provide positive feedback, train, coach and advise front line staff while ensuring staff are performing work assignment in accordance with acceptable nursing and regulatory standards.
- Performs timely and accurate resident assessments and communicates changes to the resident and / or their responsible party, their Physician and Executive Director
- Responsible for staffing within the nursing department including hiring and scheudling.
- Assists with providing oversight of medication and treatment management to assure all MAR's / TAR’s are correct and that the residents receive medications and treatments timely and accurately.
- Manages expenses within the nursing department.
- Assists with ensuring all documentation is completed as required and appropriate and is performed in a timely manner and in accordance with state regulations, standards of practice and in accordance with community policies and procedures.
- Routinely communicates with residents and their families in order to keep them informed about the resident's condition and service plan.
- Assists with completing assessments for potential residents to determine their eligibility for Assisted Living.
- Assists with creating positive employee relationships and staff retention through staff appreciation, regular feedback, and promotional incentive programs.
- Assists with providing appropriate guidance for employees by planning work schedules, assigning work duties while on shift, and directing day to day operations of the nursing department
- Provides on-call back up to community when not on duty and is subject to call back.
- Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning residents and staff.
- Assists with ensuring that any incident reports are completed properly and promptly and follow up according to facility policy and procedure and in accordance with all applicable standards.
Health and Wellness Director (Director of Nursing, DON) Requirements :
Qualified candidates must possess an active, unencumbered Ohio nursing license (RN preferred). Minimum of 1-year experience in senior housing and / or geriatric nursing required.
Prior nursing leadership experience preferred. Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively with the team in the community, residents, families, and support agencies.
Candidate must be able to read, write and speak the English language and be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and employees.
Candidate must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Subject to call back during emergency conditions such as severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster and other as needed.
Candidate must have the ability to be on call, and occasionally work nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidate must be CPR certified and must pass all pre-employment screening per facility policy and state regulations.
