Join CLX Engineering where we are leaders in automation solutions. We're currently on the lookout for a talented Integration Engineer II with water and wastewater engineering / PLC expertise to join our team.
You won't just be a cog in a machine you'll be an integral part of a team of specialists and have the opportunity to grow in other industries and specialties.
This salaried exempt position reports to the Manager, Controls Engineering. Although this position is an individual contributor, leadership and excellent interpersonal skills an absolute must.
We are not able to sponsor work authorization visas.
Travel will be a big part of the position from 40% up to 85% depending on the project.
Candidates must be able to work at night and early mornings. Many of our clients are closed or very slow only when the location is closed.
Here's what you'll be diving into :
- Designing and engineering automated solutions.
- Being the troubleshooter extraordinaire for electrical control systems and networks, especially allowing your experience in wastewater to shine.
- Providing hands-on coding and programming support on-site.
- Sharing your expertise through training sessions for our up-and-coming talent.
- Keeping the gears turning smoothly by creating, maintaining and troubleshooting Allen Bradley, Siemens, and other common PLC systems.
- Championing our CLX Engineering Core Values and safety in everything we do.
- Travel will range between 40% - 80% depending on the project.
- A work environment that may have extreme cold and hot temperatures and maybe physically dirty or grimy. Candidates must be able to squeeze through mechanical machines, climb ladders, and stand, sit, or walk for hours at a time.

Responsibilities
- Design control systems through interpretation of customer-supplied control descriptions, interviews with clients and owners, analysis of system mechanical requirements and any other means necessary to create a functional software design.
- Write structured, well-documented, bug-free PLC code in any of the 5 IEC standard languages (focus on ladder logic).
- Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing HMI interfaces.
- Work with other project team members as needed to successfully share programming responsibilities as required.
- Design software to support thorough, systematic, in-house testing prior to on-site commissioning.
- Thoroughly test system software prior to exposure to the client.
- Provide on-site system commissioning support as required. This support may require overtime or be on off hours.
- Supervision of installation personnel and progress.
- Maintain a current technical skill-set through any means necessary including reading, attending seminars, formal classroom training, project experience, etc.
Tangible demonstration of professional development is a requirement at annual reviews.
- Travel from 40% - 85% on occasion.

Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited college in engineering, computer science or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience
- Ability to quickly understand complex applications
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Advanced PLC programming skills in all IEC standard programming languages
- Thorough understanding of at least one (1) major PLC hardware platform including Allen-Bradley (preferred), Siemens, Modicon or GE
- Thorough understanding of at least one (1) major HMI software platform.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software
- Competent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to spend extended times in an industrial environment (possibility of heat, dirt, noise, or olfactory)
- Ability to use hand tools
