Job Summary

This position works in the Student Business Services area, performing complex accounting operations, enforcing policies and procedures, researching and resolving discrepancies, and responding to inquiries related to student financials.

Additionally, this role manages and supervises all part-time staff on the team, while providing customer service and guidance to students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Functions

30% Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of all part time staff on the team. Participates in hiring, time approval, discipline and termination activities as the supervision of part time staff.

  • 25% - Provide customer service in person, by phone and online to students, faculty, staff and the general public; interpret and assist others with interpreting student accounts;
  • respond to complex inquiries related to student financials, fiscal policies and procedures, financial aid and third-party billing;
  • adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures; serve as lead worker and monitor work of temporary staff;

collaborate with other departments to support student success

  • 25% - Perform daily cash count, open and close office in SIS; balance and reconcile daily business, prepare cash summaries and bank deposits;
  • maintain accurate records; audit data entry to student accounts; download electronic reports from various online systems for review and reconciliation;

review forms and documents for completeness and accuracy; create and maintain spreadsheets for data recording and reporting purposes

10% - Process payments for student tuition and fees, third-party vouchers, fines, facility rentals, department payments and any proceeds from campus events;

review and verify refund status and payment plan status; process student account refunds; prepare and reconcile cash boxes

5% - Assist at cashier window (employee and student)

5% - perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in finance, accounting or directly related field and two years of experience providing professional financial analysis for area of assignment.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A.Two (2) years of supervisory experience in higher education or government organization.

B. Three (3) years of experience using online financial reporting systems such as Student Information System (SIS) and Financial Management System (FMS).

C. Five (5) years of fiscal experience related to student business services (cashiering).

D. Five (5) years of experience providing a high level of customer service.

E. Five (5) years of experience with cash handling procedures and reconciling accounts.

Special Working Conditions

  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving :
  • Travel to campus during interview / selection process will be at candidate’s own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
