Position Summary
Our client, a leader in civil engineering, is looking for a Survey Field Supervisor to join their team. This role involves supervising survey activities, motivating team members, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of survey projects.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of survey equipment, strong communication skills, and the ability to foster teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain survey equipment to meet high standards of accuracy and quality.
- Ensure all tasks meet budget, productivity, and quality benchmarks.
- Organize and maintain survey trucks and equipment for efficient daily operations.
- Generate suggestions to improve workflow and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare for work each day with safety awareness and ensure that all crew members are equipped and ready for fieldwork.
- Read and interpret construction plans to guide survey activities effectively.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some post-secondary education in surveying is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related role, with preferred (but not required) experience as a crew chief.
- Proficiency with survey technology, tools, and equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Ability to inspire and motivate survey staff, creating a collaborative team environment.
- Stable work history and commitment to fieldwork demands.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role involves regular fieldwork, often outdoors in various weather conditions. Physical demands include frequent standing and walking, lifting and carrying equipment, handling tools, and occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Flexibility for overtime and travel is required, as projects may demand.
