As a Wafer-to-Wafer Bonding Engineer in DRAM Process Development Quality at Micron Technology, Inc, your primary responsibility will be establishing quality criteria and communicating quality and reliability issues to the Technology Development efforts.
You will define, lead, and drive effective actions on key technology challenges that allow Micron to bring higher quality solutions to market sooner and to prevent quality and reliability related issues.
You will be driving the following :
- Partner with technology development on latest products and technologies to define quality and reliability fail modes during Technology Development
- Proactively work to evaluate, characterize, and mitigate Quality and Reliability risks and fail modes for W2W bonding on new processes and products
- Partner with MFG Quality Assurance and Quality Engineer teams on current high-volume products to sustain and further develop the quality reliability (QR) fail mode list
- Work with key teams to define and validate specs and to mitigate known and potential Quality and Reliability risks
- Feedback critical customer quality and reliability issues that need design and development solutions
- Identify gaps and drive initiatives / programs to build margin around structural, electrical, and reliability performance
- Work with key stakeholder to implement effective detections and controls
- Maintain and facilitate the best possible communication between Process Integration, Product Engineering and Quality Teams for key Quality and Customer issues
- Leverage critical to quality inputs to Improve critical decision points during the design and development phase
- Partner with Process Integration, Process and Equipment Engineering, Product Engineering, and 8D teams to find root cause and Corrective Action Preventive Actions
- Understand BEOL reliability failure modes, the underlying physical mechanisms, and test methods for accelerating those mechanisms.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure critical test structures and parametric tests for quality and reliability risks are implemented.
Validate and define proper electrical spec limits.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Extensive BEOL Process integration, wafer to wafer bonding or Process Development experience within a semiconductor manufacturing company using complex metallization stacks, materials, and processes :
- Minimum of 7 years working directly on BEOL processes
- Expert level knowledge of BEOL / W2W intrinsic reliability mechanisms, relevant tests, and test structures
- Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of materials science and semiconductor device physics :
- Expert level knowledge of materials used in BEOL processes including but not limited to copper, aluminum, tungsten, lower-K ILD, passivation, and polyimide
- Strong knowledge of Assembly processes, tools, failure modes and Chip-to-Package issues and concerns
- Package design and development knowledge is valuable.
- Knowledge of BEOL / W2W design rules and ability to view design + layout
- Knowledge of failure analysis and relevant characterization techniques at package and silicon levels. Especially for products using multiple chips per package
- Extensive knowledge of stress / strain relevant to materials, silicon, packages, etc, the associated failure modes, characterization, and modeling techniques
- Awareness and understanding of future BEOL processes, materials, techniques, etc
- Meticulous experiment design and data analysis skills, including theoretical and statistical applications.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience driving cross-functional technical teams.
- Working knowledge and experience of the Fab Processes and Flow
- Working knowledge and experience of electrical specifications, Probe, and Param registers
- Strong facilitation skills with ability to clearly communicate complex topics.
- Real passion for improving product quality to increase customer satisfaction.
- Multi-tasking and analytical skills with demonstrated success at solving highly complex problems and leading cross-functional projects
- Confirmed ability to deliver and communicate data and findings.
- Independently motivated with strong drive to deliver results
- Items not required but beneficial :
- Direct experience with TSV processes and tools
- Strong Data analysis skills
- Familiar with Backend test flow and major failure modes.
- Circuit and product functionality knowledge
Education :
BS or higher in Materials Science, Semiconductor Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
Experience :
7 or more years of Fab / Semiconductor manufacturing BEOL related experience working with highly complex / advanced metallization stacks, materials, and processes
