About the Position
Under the direction of the Human Resources Director,the HR Generalist supports the Human Resources department in areas such as inRecruitment, Employee Communications, EmployeeEvents, Personnel Action Notices, Employee Benefits, Onboarding, HRIS, andFederal / State / Local reporting and legal compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :
1. Responsible for new hire documents andrecordkeeping including (but not limited to) I-9's, W-2's, identification,Healing Lodge policy acknowledgements, new hire documentation, etc.
2. Prepare HR documentation and tracking as requiredfor compliance.
3. Utilize HRIS systemto input and maintain data and employee records.
4. At request of HR Management, create reports and analyze datasuch as training audit, benefit enrollment review, payroll reports, leavereports, etc.
5. Responsible for coordinating and scheduling interviews.
Assists with recruitment, interview, and onboarding process including credentialing and education verification and conducting personal / employment reference checks.
7. Coordinatesthe posting of job vacancies and advertisements. Assists in creating and updating jobdescriptions as necessary.
8. NotifiesDepartment Directors of performance reviews, and assists with the preparationof the performance review forms as needed.
9. Assistswith enrollment, changes and terminations of employees in voluntary benefitplans (medical, dental, vision and life insurance.)
10. Assistwith COBRA administration and documentation.
11. Coordinates and implements employee benefits fair,recognition events, holiday parties and any other events / projects sponsored byHR.
12. Maintains employee confidence and protects operations bykeeping employee and Healing Lodge information confidential.
13. Assists with special projects or assignments as needed.
14. Attends special events that serve the purpose of promotingthe organization, conferences, resource fairs, marketing or special events.
15. Builds applicant sources by researching and contactingprofessional organizations, colleges and universities, community services,diversity listings, Internet sites, etc.
16. Review applications received for minimum requirements andrestrictions.
17. Places recruitment job announcements, advertisements and joblistings.
18. Maintains and updates recruitment files, tracks and updatesEEO & Affirmative Action data and reports.
19. Updates and maintains on annual basis Vehicle DMV andInsurance information.
20. Review and prepare employee files for annual audits ensuringall required hardcopies are in the employees file (signed) and electronicinformation is accurate and up to date.
21. Responsible for timely and accurate filing.
22. Act as back-up for Receptionist; during breaks, absents andas needed.
23. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient with computers and the internet, at aminimum must be able to type 60 WPM.
- Must have a basic understanding of HR concepts such asbenefits administration, staffing / recruitment, HRIS, filing systems, auditing,etc.
- Must be task orientated and have the ability to completework in a timely manner.
- Public speaking skills are a plus in HR as we presentinformation and materials to employees and candidates frequently.
- Must become familiarized with the Healing Lodge's IndianPreference Hiring Policy in order to support and enforce this importantrequirement.
- Must be able to maintain positivity and a high level of professionalismwhile interacting with candidates, employees and leadership.
- Must be able to uphold strict confidentiality and maintain ahigh level of integrity.

SupervisoryResponsibilities :
This position has no supervisory responsibilities, but willreport to the HR Manager.
Education and / or Experience :
To be successful in this position, the candidate must haveat least three years of HR Experience in an HR Assistant role or higher.
Willing to consider a combination ofeducation and experience.
- Experience working in healthcare preferred.
- Experience working with HRIS systems required.
- Must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft office suite(Outlook, Word and Excel are used by the Healing Lodge).
Certificates, Licenses, orRegistrations : SHRMCertification preferred.
Work Environment :
The work environmentcharacteristics described here are representative of those an employeeencounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
Work isgenerally performed in an indoor office environment with frequent normal-levelconversations. Work area is located inmodular building which requires walking back and forth between the mainbuildings.
May experience inclementweather in some cases. The noise level in the work environment ismoderate.

While performing the duties of this Job, theemployee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, or crouch and lift and / ormove up to 10 pounds.
The employee isregularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands andarms; talk or hear; to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
Specific vision abilities required by thisjob include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The work performed in this position willrequired sitting for long periods of time, utilizing a computer and looking ata screen for extended periods of time
