Job Summary and Qualifications

  • Coordination of day to day clinical operations of the Emergency Department with regard to patient care, resource management, staffing, supplies & equipment.
  • Helps maintain personnel files related to orientation, competency, disciplinary actions and attendance; coordination of staffing schedule;

performs evaluations in conjunction with Director of ED or AVP.

Coordination of community / area Emergency Medical Services; follows up on cases and reports required data to ED Director or AVP;

maintains departmental statistics and reviews records for quality performance issues.

  • Assists and works collaboratively with the ED leadership team across the entire hospital Emergency Services line. Coordinates with Human Resources to ensure appropriate recruitment of staff;
  • coordinates with staffing office to ensure appropriate staff availability; serves as a resource to staff and physicians;

computation of staffing payroll (assisted by operations assistant).

Reviews and coordinates ED nursing education / protocols; coordinates community Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Department including performance improvement issues related to pre-hospital care;

participates in ED management processes as indicated / delegated by Director.

Participates with disaster planning / program for department, hospital, community and regional advisory council.

What qualifications you will need :

Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications :

  • Current Texas State RN license or compact license.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS issued by the American Heart Association required.
  • CEN, TNCC, ENPC / Pals preferred.

Minimum Experience :

  • Five (5) years nursing experience with at least two (2) years in Emergency Department; Supervisory / leadership experience within past year.
  • Pre-hospital EMS experience preferred; previous trauma coordinator preferred, leadership / management experience preferred.
