Developmental Specialist, Early Support for Infants & Toddlers (Full-time)

Job Description

  • Participate as a member of an inter-disciplinary evaluation team to conduct ESIT Eligibility Evaluations.
  • Explain the range of social-emotional, cognitive, communication, physical, and adaptive differences to families and caregivers as a part of the program and services.
  • Provide family and child relational support around healthy attachment, social interactions, transitions in daily routines, emotional development, and general developmental milestones in the home or natural environment or telehealth
  • Support culturally relevant family and caregiver routines that promote health, well-being, and development of the child.
  • Design individual family service plans (IFSP) and individual treatment plans that to support infants’ and toddlers’ healthy racial, cultural, gender, and disability identity development in partnership with families and the ESIT Team.
  • Coach families / caregivers to recognize and utilize learning opportunities which occur during their typical family routines, embracing and integrating the cultural, linguistic, ethnic, and socio-economic elements that are a part of daily routines for the child and family
  • Utilize specialists across the ESIT program to provide appropriate services for families by collaborating with all disciplines.
  • Develop and / or provide developmental materials for each child / family as appropriate.
  • Meet required ESIT timelines driven by developmental milestones for IFSPs, progress reports, records and medical records reviews;

and maintain accurate records of services and family contacts.

  • Develop strong relationships with families and work collaboratively with ESIT Team members and community members and service providers to meet families’ needs.
  • Participate as a member of the ESIT team, including attending team meetings, participating in staffing, in-services, and peer coaching / consultation.
  • Meet with mentor and / or supervisor in accordance with ESIT requirements. '

Additional requirements

  • Develop and use a framework of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging to inform and influence work with families and colleagues.
  • Understand and adhere to laws pertaining to the health and general wellbeing of children and families; use confidentiality when handling client records and follow HIPAA regulations
  • Observe safety precautions and keep equipment and materials in good condition.
  • Recognize and follow procedures for documentation and notification of suspected abuse and neglect in partnership with families and other service providers when appropriate.
  • Use time and materials in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain awareness and continued education of latest developments in ESIT.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to function independently and collaboratively

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field, e.g. early childhood education, child development, child and family studies, etc.

and specific coursework in Child Development, Evaluation / Assessment, Family Systems and Intervention / Curriculum.*

  • Experience working with infants and toddlers with neurodiversity is preferred
  • Dedicated to quality of practice, with a willingness to learn and share knowledge
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • A valid Driver’s License and or reliable personal transportation required
  • Basic computer proficiency in Word, Outlook; Electronic Medical Records systems experience is a plus
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • At least 4 years’ experience providing early support services may replace family systems and intervention / curriculum.

Approval is granted at the state level and requires review. Resume and transcripts may be requested in order to demonstrate this coursework in cases where a state-issued license does not meet requirements.
