As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are : Just Teaching. No Lesson Plans. No Preparation. As a Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on Sylvan's proven, personal approach to learning and given the tools to teach in a small group, 3 : 1 setting.
Our teachers have the opportunity to grow their craft with professional training in several academic areas such as Reading, Writing, Math, Study Skills, STEM, and ACT!
Requirements :
- Working towards or has obtained a Four-year degree in Education or equivalent Bachelor’s or Masters Degree.
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension is preferred for reading teachers
- We ask that you are available at least 2 days per week for 2 hours and one weekend day. You can work more than this, as well.
- Current Instructional Hours :
- M-Thurs : 4 : 00pm-8 : 00PM
- Sat : 8 : 00AM-12 : 00AM
- Sun : 1 : 00PM-5 : 00PM

Essential Job Functions :
- Prepares for each instructional session; Gathers and prepares materials as appropriate
- Greets students and initiates instruction to personally engage each student
- Instructs students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
- Manages students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session
- Evaluates and records the progress of each student on their program assignment
- Uses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn
- Communicates specific student needs to Center staff
- Attends periodic staff meetings and completes ongoing training as needed
- Completes certification training on each Sylvan program taught to students
