POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Note : All official drafts, documents, and recommendations, as listed below, must be reviewed, finalized, and approved / accepted by appropriate BPA manager or other federal personnel with the authority to do so.

Research, test, document, and develop standardized technical procedures for the deployment / troubleshooting of server hardware (or virtual machines), the associated operating systems and application software.

Perform system vulnerability assessments using vendor native (Oracle Enterprise Manager) and third-party tools (Nessus), recommending mitigation options based on risk of exploitation after consideration of environmental factors.

Serve as a service response escalation point, working with teams of varying technical ability in response to service availability and / or performance related incidents / problems.

Provide recommendations for process / procedural changes that may become necessary due to environmental changes, upgrades.

Support the design and implementation of highly available database solutions appropriate for workloads based on customer requirements.

Support disaster recovery and continuity of operations through continuous verification of availability mechanisms and management of data protection activities (including backup and restore testing).

Serve as a technical advisor for project and service response and related tasks.

Operate a production Oracle Database environment using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) c Grid Control.

Provide recommendations for process improvements and technical solutions that can be integrated into existing environments surrounding performance, operational efficiency, and capacity.

Apply the processes / procedures in support of the following technologies :

Microsoft Windows Server R / R / (as it pertains to Oracle DB)

Red Hat Enterprise Linux / Oracle Enterprise Linux (as it pertains to Oracle DB)

Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management)

ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor) and AWR (Automatic Workload Repository)

Oracle Enterprise Manager c

Recovery Manager (RMAN)

Mark documents and maintain filing system(s), files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Share and disperse documents only to appropriate personnel (those with a Lawful Government Purpose (LGP) to know).

Mark and maintain all official records in accordance with the Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures.

Validate official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Corresponding Experience (required on matrix)

A bachelor's degree in information technology (or closely related technical discipline) is preferred.

• years of experience is required with an applicable bachelor's degree.
• years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree.

Experience should include directly related IT infrastructure administration.

Required Technical Skills & Experience (required on matrix)

• years of knowledge and experience sufficient to administer Oracle gR and Oracle c on a Red Hat or Oracle Enterprise Linux platform.
• years of knowledge of and experience sufficient to successfully troubleshoot Linux and Windows operating systems using text-based logs, windows event logs, and various utilities as it pertains to support of Oracle Database services.
• years of knowledge of and experience with TCP / IP and related services.
• years knowledge of and experience building tools for other administrators to use and automating operations with scripting tools such as shell scripting, Perl, Python, and PowerShell.

Preferred Skills & Experience (optional on matrix)

Direct experience managing Oracle ExaData operations including patch management.

Direct experience supporting production workloads using Oracle RAC.

Direct experience managing and supporting Oracle SPARC and Solaris.

Experience configuring and managing systems using Puppet Enterprise.

VMware vSphere administration and operation.
