GAI Consultants seeks a Senior Planning Manager with 10+ years of experience within our Community Solutions Group practice to assist in regional leadership and practice development.
This position is ideally located within our Jacksonville office, targeted to Northeast Florida clients.
Our Planning and Land Development team collaborates with all aspects of our Community Solutions Group service group and other departments at GAI Consultants.
Our practice works with public, private, and institutional clients to assist with Land Use Entitlements and Regulatory Planning, Urban Design and Redevelopment, and Community Visioning.
The successful candidate for this position will be eligible for a generous GAI sign-on bonus.
Job Duties :
The specific duties of this position are focused on assisting in the project coordination of master planning and site development assignments :
- Manage Clients and Projects from initial marketing to assignments through completion.
- Business Development for our combined Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Civil Engineering practices, particularly in northeast Florida.
- Both produce and coordinate with staff to complete project assignments.
- Mentoring and coordinating staff schedules, deliverables, and budgets.
- Preparing land use or plan permit submittal documents.
- Prepare design and / or Landscape Architectural construction documents.
- Development of design master plans for a variety of sites and land development typologies.
- Prepare reports and presentations that convey recommendations for approvals.
- Participation in client coordination, contracting, and project management / invoicing meetings.
- Represent GAI and CSG across a range of project and client types as we continue to build our presence in the regional NE Florida market.
As a GAI Project Manager, this position is responsible for leading the successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and quality for projects within the Community Solutions Group Business Sector of GAI's TRANS / INF Business Unit.
Project Management Responsibilities :
- Approximately 30-40% of job duties are dedicated to client / project management and 20-30% to technical delivery.
- Delivers scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability of all projects managed.
- Plans and manages medium to high-value projects, with single or multi-discipline focus and medium to high-risk profile.
- Directly manages up to $1 million per year of total billings with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed.
- Develops project schedules and cost budgets, understanding project goals and drivers.
- Works closely with Project Controls staff to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profit, analyze project performance data on an ongoing basis, and develop recovery plans as needed.
Business Development Responsibilities :
- Approximately 20-30% of job duties may be dedicated to Business Development.
- Serves as primary client contact for projects managed.
- Actively wins new work from existing clients by building and maintaining customer relationships, monitoring future work opportunities, communicating regularly, and attending client events.
- Coordinates and develops proposed scope, schedule, and fee for the entire project and participates on the interview team.
- Supports senior management in contract negotiations with clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Typically will have 2-3 reporting staff.
- Assembles and leads project teams to successfully deliver the scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profit for projects managed.
- May serve as PM Coach to Task Managers and other PMs.
Qualifications include :
- Bachelor's degree in an accredited Landscape Architecture, Planning, or Land Development related program
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and ArcGIS as well as other graphics programs such as SketchUp.
- Experience with the development of site master plans for redevelopment and greenfield sites, and experience with regulatory interfaces such as Muni-Code, Zoning, and Comprehensive Plans.
- Experience working with local planning department officials and private development clients.
- Professional certification or licensure is desired but not required depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
