Position Summary
The Temporary Marketing and Communications Coordinator assists with the implementation of the Aeon's strategy organization-wide as part of the Advancement Team, which is responsible for driving reputation, visibility, and revenue for the organization.
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Resource Development and in collaboration with both brand and PR consulting teams, this position executes on the strategic marketing and communications plan.
The role is responsible for activities that promote, enhance, and protect Aeon's brand and drive financial resources. This individual will be an ambassador for the organization, with a goal of advancing the organization's position with relevant constituents as well as driving broader awareness and support for the organization.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Graphic Design : Use Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop to design print and digital collateral to support the organization's mission, awareness-building, fundraising, staff recruitment, property-based and housing development initiatives and activities.
Digital : Track and report on reach, engagement and outcomes for all channels and use analytics to optimize performance.
Monitor social media to meet goals. Using WordPress, update Aeon's website regularly per the content management plan. Support updates to Aeon's CRM (Bloomerang) to maintain, clean and pull mailing lists and support integrated e-communications apps like MailChimp to design and distribute emails to Aeon's audiences.
Manage digital integrations with MailChimp, social media sites, Aeon's website. Manage Google AdWords and Google Analytics accounts.
Employee Communications : Support employee recruitment activities by designing materials as requested. Assemble content and publish Aeon's weekly staff eNewsletter via Sharepoint.
Edit all-staff communications as needed / requested.
Public Relations : Monitor media coverage and notify appropriate staff and consultants for response, as necessary. Develop media lists.
Attend weekly PR meetings with ELT and external contractors. Write press releases and media statements. Write resident crisis messaging, as needed and send to site staff.
General : Participate as an active member of the Advancement team, including supporting other activities as needed. Proficient use of Microsoft products, particularly Sharepoint, Word, PowerPoint.
Work with print vendors on collateral productions. Write, edit, build and launch monthly supporter eNewsletter. Project manage communications campaigns (print newsletter, annual impact report, etc).
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a marketing or communications function through employment or internship opportunities is required
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop for print and digital design is required
- Ability to understand marketing and communications as it relates to Aeon's brand-building and fundraising efforts
- Familiarity with WordPress and basic understanding of HTML / CSS is a plus
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Understanding of changing technologies, and ability to successfully utilize digital and other channels in integrated marketing, communication, and fundraising strategies.
- Proven ability to engage with diverse communities in a way that is responsive to individual and collective needs and expectations
- Results-driven style, personal accountability, and excellent time management skills.

- Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift up to 10lbs.
- Ability to reach above and below the shoulders.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to file, open and close file drawers, and enter data into a computer for extended periods of time.
Compensation , Hours & Location
This position has a range of pay between $25-$28 / hr depending on experience and qualifications. This position offers mostly Monday-Friday, daytime hours.
Typical work schedules are 8 : 30am-5pm, but there is some flexibility in these hours to accommodate the needs of the team and the staff person.
This is a hybrid position and will work Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Aeon's Central Office. Occasional work at Aeon's properties, training facilities, and other off-site locations will occur from time to time.
Time the position is not required to be in person may be worked remotely.
