The Director of Education Abroad at Florida International University (FIU) is a visionary leader responsible for the strategic development and expansion of FIU's education abroad and exchange programs.
This role requires a dynamic individual with experience in international education and student success. The Director will lead efforts to increase enrollment, enhance program offerings, foster external relationships, and provide administrative support.
The Director formulates policies and strategies for the Office of Education Abroad.

- Develop and implement a strategic plan for the growth and diversification of education abroad programs. Evaluate and enhance existing programs to ensure a high-quality academic experience.
- Lead the Education Abroad team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of innovation and creativity within the unit.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase student participation in student mobility programs.
- Work closely with faculty, academic departments, and advisors to promote programs and answer questions. Collaborate with student affairs departments to align programs with student affairs policies.
- Conduct outreach and promotional activities to raise awareness of education abroad and exchange programs.
- Negotiate agreements and partnerships that enhance the quality and accessibility of education abroad and exchange programs.
- Develop and implement initiatives to foster positive relationships with students participating in education abroad programs.
Maintain open communication channels with students to address concerns and provide guidance.
- Work closely with the International Travel Committee to ensure the effectiveness of the institution's international travel policy, pre-departure protocols, and emergency responses for all internationally traveling students.
- Oversee the administrative functions of the Education Abroad office, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience.
Departmental Requirements :
Previous experience with study abroad programs.

Salary :
Starting at $100,000 - commensurate with education and experience.
