Position Summary The Student Assistant for the HEB School of Business & Administration will assist the Administrative Assistant & Assistant to the Dean with efficient daily operations of the department.
This position is funded by the Federal Work-Study program and is open to UIW students who are approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study Program.
Essential Functions Essential functions include :
- Support a friendly, student-oriented environment.
- Answer incoming phone calls when supervisor is out of his / her desk.
- Weekly runs to the mail room, print shop, grants office, testing center, if needed.
- Provide help to students.
- Assist supervisors, faculty & staff with tasks.
- Scanning, copying and filling documents.
- Maintain confidentiality of faculty information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of office skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to alphabetize.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
- Ability to learn quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Required Education Current UIW student approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program. Required Work Experience No previous work experience needed.
Training and guidance will be available. Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with customer service.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish).
- Current Business major / minor.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations n / a. Work Hours
- Office hours are generally Monday-Friday, from 8 am 5 pm.
- Student Assistant shift will occur during these hours.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 4 hours per week.
- Student Assistant will not work during student holidays unless they desire.
Physical Demands Ability to reach, squat and lift at least 30 lbs.
