For over 50 years, The University of Oklahoma Outreach, National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) has been improving the effectiveness of human services through training, capacity-building consultation, and other services.

Position Summary

This position will oversee the development and delivery of training, conduct assigned NRCYS trainings as needed, and provide consultation and technical assistance services to individuals and organizations to strengthen their ability to best serve children, youth, and families.

Includes, but is not limited to, training, collaborative partnerships, planning and facilitation of meetings and conferences, program assessment and documentation, and data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Supervise and develop staff as assigned to oversee the implementation of assigned projects, training, and programs.

Duties

Supervise staff as assigned to oversee the implementation of the program. Communicate clearly and directly with assigned staff concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability in implementing projects and programs.

Meet with staff a minimum of two times per month.

  • Evaluate and develop training staff, including contracted trainers.
  • Manage the day-to-day administrative and programmatic activities for assigned projects and programs.
  • Communicate current policy and procedure to staff through the agency, individual, team meetings, and scheduled trainings.
  • Plan and attend internal and external meetings, including but not limited to NRCYS Management Team Meetings, NRCYS Staff Meetings, Capacity Building Meetings, Contract / Project Meetings with funders, and University meetings as needed.
  • Plan and facilitate activities, training, and capacity-building technical assistance that support state and national initiatives of NRCYS.
  • Create and develop best practice tools, activities, and resources to support service delivery and understanding.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and plan with contractors, other programs, and stakeholders on current trends, best practices, and program development through meetings, telephone, and email correspondence.
  • Collect and analyze data. Write reports. Utilize data to inform decision-making to benefit specific projects, programs, and agency initiatives
  • Monitor and enhance the knowledge base on national and other states' best practice initiatives to make informed decisions and recommendations regarding the ongoing management and improvement of projects, programs, and agency initiatives.
  • Uphold, safeguard, and engage in activities to support the University mission, NRCYS vision, mission, values, and core principles.

Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or closely related field, AND :

  • Combined Experience : 24-36 months in any of the following
  • Youth work (children welfare, child / youth / family services, juvenile justice, education, treatment services).
  • Understanding service systems (mental health, community-based services, child welfare, education, etc.).
  • Training presentation and group facilitation.
  • Technical assistance and consultation.
  • Event planning and coordination.
  • Youth development and leadership activities.
  • Trauma-responsive service provision.
  • Services to foster healthy youth development.
  • Services to foster healthy life span development.
  • Supporting individuals who play a role in facilitating the successful transition of children and youth into adulthood.
  • Evidence-based and research-informed practices.
  • Staff supervision.
  • Project management.

Required Skills and Proficiencies :

  • Cultural responsiveness including an understanding of its relevance to training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide high-quality services while managing multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development (including knowledge of accessing child welfare legislation and continuing education resources).
  • Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and exercise professional judgment.
  • Drive innovation in the design, development, and implementation of projects through the integration of current legislative initiatives, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills (including delivering high-quality customer service and participating in cross-departmental work teams).
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Working knowledge and skills with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Departmental Preferences

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or closely related field.
  • Experience : 48 months

Preferred Experience and Abilities

  • Professional experience working with public sector or state government agencies.
  • Professional experience in instructional design and / or training development, including the application of adult learning theory, to develop content for workshops, training modules, and course curricula.
  • Experience with the development and evaluation of trainers.
  • Experience with training and facilitating across a variety of modalities, to include virtual, in person, and blended learning formats.

Experience collaborating with public and private child welfare and / or child and youth-serving organizations.

  • Knowledge regarding environmental and relational permanency.
  • Data collection and management.
  • Regional or national conference planning and / or workshop presentation.
  • National child welfare federal legislation, practices, policies, and initiatives.
  • Program assessment and evaluation.

Supervision

  • Supervise a minimum of three staff.
  • Manage and oversee programs and projects related to planning and facilitation of activities, training, and capacity-building technical assistance supporting state and national NRCYS initiatives.
