JOB SUMMARY

To design new products and improve existing products in accordance with Pride’s procedures and protocols

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • Design and analyze mechanical systems and assemblies including but not limited to high load structural systems, suspension systems, vehicle chassis, and other powered or manual positioning systems
  • Develop, release, and revise mechanical drawings and 3D models
  • Ensure designs’ safety, effectiveness, manufacturability, reliability, and Superior Product at Reduced Cost (SPARC) initiatives are met
  • Perform inspections, verification and validation testing
  • Meet and fulfill project timelines and budgets
  • Assist in continuous improvement of design procedure and protocol to help drive design efficiency
  • Travel to domestic and international contract manufacturers as needed for product launches
  • Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents, or injuries are promptly reported to management
  • Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training
  • Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment
  • Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations
  • Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and / or assign other duties as necessary

Must have :

  • Relentless drive to achieve advancement and continuous improvement
  • Basic working knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Creo
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong mechanical inclination
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Intermediate working knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Creo preferred
  • Basic familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and SolidWorks simulation preferred
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred
  • Basic familiarity with ASTM, ASME, and ISO standards relating to materials, testing, and finishing preferred
  • Basic understanding of various manufacturing methods and their respective effects on component design preferred
  • Basic understanding of Permanent Magnet DC motor theory and design preferred
  • Basic understanding of Lean Principles preferred
  • Basic working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems preferred
  • Lift / Push / Pull 40 lbs. preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

No experience required

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • At least 1,000 hours or 1 year of equivalent experience in 3D solid modeling of mechanical components and assemblies along with 2D detail drawings preferred
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with machining, welding, and fabrication of mechanical assemblies preferred
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in the design, manufacturing, and assembly of fabricated mechanical components and systems preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience utilizing GD&T preferred
  • Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 6 years of experience in designing mechanical systems and assemblies

PREFERRED EDUCATION

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now, or in the future
