Job Summary
Responsible for the creation and maintenance of sterile fields associated with the services and surgical procedures performed within Maternal Child Services.
The Obstetrical Technician is also the sterile "scrub" person for all procedures and circumstances within the Labor and Delivery suites.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Maintains the physical environment of Labor and Delivery by providing for the required medical / surgical supplies and equipment
- Responsible for cleaning, organizing and restocking all items utilized within the Labor and Delivery suites
- Handles, contains and labels irreplaceable specimens for laboratory analysis or to be discarded
- Performs routine housekeeping duties as necessary
- Effectively communicates co-insurance, deductibles and copayment responsibilities to patients
- Assists in preparation, transportation and supervision of patients as requested
- Perform other duties as required
Education / Experience Requirements
Required :
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred :
Previous work experience within Maternal Child Services or Perioperative Services
Licensure / Certification Requirements
Required :
Maintain current Surgical Technician Certification
Preferred :
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
