Reports to : Community Supports Manager
Salary / Hourly Rate : $18 / hour, Non-Exempt
Schedule : 30 Hours; This role will typically work 6 hours, Monday through Friday (8am to 2pm). Hours / Days may need to occasionally be flexible (to include occasional later afternoons / weekends) depending on business needs.
Primary Work Location : Sanford, Maine

Summary :
Direct Support Professionals provide support for individuals to access the community with a focus on preferred choice of activity and goals as identified by the member in their Person-Centered Plan.
Direct Support Professionals will provide a range of supports to the individual as identified in the person-centered plan to ensure they are meeting their goals.
They will be transporting individuals into the community in their vehicle, so a valid driver’s license is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide instructional support while assisting members with the implementation of their yearly Person-Centered Plan goals.
- Promote quality community connections for members while seeking and developing opportunities in community settings.
- Always Assure the health and safety of members.
- Timely completion of all required paperwork, i.e., email correspondence, daily notes, mileage logs, timesheets, progress notes, and incident reports.
- Provide transportation for members in the community using your personal vehicle. (Mileage is reimbursed)
- Be a positive role model with strong advocacy towards member rights and choice.
- Work with individuals of all abilities including those with personal care needs and behavioral accommodations. DSP’s will be trained accordingly and should have a firm understanding of the requirements of the member they are supporting.
- Exposure to bodily fluids noting that Great Bay Services uses universal precautions.
- Lifting, bending, sitting, walking, running, stooping, carrying objects, and other physical movements.
- Work in various seasonal weather conditions.
- Written, typing, and verbal communication skills.
- Compassion for those with differences, and an interest in supporting individuals in achieving their goals.
- Patience, Empathy, and Creativity.
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certified DSPs preferred; training will be provided if needed
- MANDT certification preferred, training will be provided if needed
- Prior experience working with adults with intellectual and / or developmental disabilities preferred, but not required
- First Aid & CPR Certified; training will be provided if needed
- Valid Driver’s License with a legally registered vehicle
- Carry Mandatory Auto Insurance of no less than 100K / 300K
- Must pass routine criminal background check, DHHS background check, motor vehicle check, and any others required to comply with Medicaid funding
