Toole Design Group in Seattle, WA is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Planning Intern . Are you interested in making places better for walking and biking?

Are you curious about how a city decides where to put its bike lanes and pedestrian crossings? Would you like to learn about pedestrian and bicyclist planning and design while working on real projects?

A Day in the Life of a Planning Intern at Toole Design

As an Intern, you will not be fetching coffee or sorting mail - we want you here for real, meaningful work. You'll spend 8 to 12 weeks working with planners, engineers, and landscape architects on a variety of projects.

All internships are paid positions.

You will contribute to exciting and impactful work that advances active transportation at the citywide-, corridor-, and project-level.

We are targeting a salary range for this position of $20 - $24 per hour.

Qualifications of a Planning Intern at Toole Design :

  • Undergraduate : Current enrollment as a third year or higher Urban Planning, Geography / UP, Regional Planning, Urban Design or related program field
  • Master's : Current or upcoming enrollment in a Master's in Urban & Regional Planning (MURP), City & Regional Planning (MCRP) or related program field
  • Recent graduate : Degree in City Planning, Urban Planning, Urban Design or in a related field or demonstrated passion for the field
  • Ability to quickly pick up new concepts, skills, and programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Work Schedule for a Planning Intern at Toole Design :

This full-time position typically works a schedule of 40 hours a week, exact length and dates are negotiable. The Seattle office of Toole Design is conveniently located in the heart of Seattle's Business District blocks from the Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, Central Public Library, and Waterfront.

The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit or ferry. RapidRide lines C, D and E stop right in front, and multiple Sound Transit light rail and Sounder Commuter rail lines are a short walk to the office.

Bike lanes are close by on 2nd and 4th avenues.
