We are seeking a talented Optical-Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an Optical-Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing Optical-Mechanical systems and components.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to innovate and deliver high-performance solutions that meet our customers' needs and exceed industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Design precision components, modules, and subsystems focused on optic mounting, actuating, and alignment for microscopy illumination and imaging.
- Designs need to account for stability and reproducibility, mitigating thermal and vibration effects, material properties of optical elements and machine parts, and proper adhesives and lubricants under varying environmental conditions for robustness.
- Design mechanical components and assemblies by encompassing mechanical engineering principles and best practices.
- Design for manufacturability and serviceability.
- Perform stack up and tolerance analysis to ensure proper fit and function of assemblies under extreme operating conditions.
- Develop and test prototypes to validate design concepts and project requirements.
- Collaborate with optical engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, systems engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing teams to integrate optical-mechanical systems into larger systems or products.
- Participate in and lead design reviews to obtain peer-oriented design assessments throughout design processes.
- Generate detailed component and assembly drawings, BOMs, ECOs, and build / inspection / test procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related field with 5 years experience, Master's with 2 years experience or PhD preferred.
- Proven experience in designing and developing optical-mechanical systems and components.
- Proficiency in converting Zemax software optical designs into mechanical design.
- Proficiency in designing in SolidWorks. Proficiency in designing in SolidEdge a plus.
- Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and tolerance stack up analysis.
- Hands-on experience with optical measurement equipment and testing methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with regulatory requirements and standards (., ISO, Semi, CE) preferred.
At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $113,000 and $194,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position.
