Program Specialist
Pay Range : $18.00 / hour - 19.50 / hour depending on education and experience
Schedule : Monday-Friday 8a-4pm

As a Program Specialist, you will provide individual person-centered planning services. Program Specialists are responsible to facilitate the implementation of person-centered plans by coordinating activities / schedules and providing opportunities for individuals to increase their skill sets.
Program Specialist are also responsible for enforcing agency policies; standard operating procedures; and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.
Program Specialists display leadership qualities which promote effective team relations and efficient systems. The Program Specialist is invested in providing high quality services, ensuring the proper level of supervision and care to maintain individuals’ safety and well-being.
The Program Specialist is expected to embrace the NADSP’s Code of Ethics which is intended to serve as a straightforward and relevant guide for DSPs as they resolve the ethical dilemmas, they face every day and encourage them to achieve the highest ideals of the profession.
Essential Functions / Duties :
- Participant Empowerment : Meets with staff and clients to assess client skills and progress on current goals. Work with staff and clients to develop future goals and objectives
- Communication : Uses effective, respectful, sensitive communication skills to build rapport and channels of communication to all stakeholders.
Recognizes and adapts to the range of participant communication styles.
- Person-Centered Planning - Plan Development : Promotes choice making considering the needs and desires of the individual served
- Maintains collaborative professional relationships with the participant and all support team members (including family / friends), follows ethical standards of practice (e.
g., confidentiality, informed consent, etc.), and recognizes his or her own personal limitations.
- Assists the participant to meet his or her needs in the areas of household management, transportation, socialization, self-care, academic, and vocation by teaching skills, providing supports.
- Living Skills & Supports : Match specific supports and interventions to the unique needs of individual participants and recognizes the importance of friends, family and community relationships.
- Must be able and willing to provide assistance, up to and including full physical assistance, in activities of daily living.
Supports the participant in the development of friendships and other relationships.
- Health and Safety of Individuals in Environment : Identifies crisis situations, defuses the situation, evaluates and determines and intervention strategy and contacts necessary supports.
- Advocacy : Identify and use effective advocacy strategies by gathering information, reviewing and analyzing all aspects of the problem.
- Organization Participation : Incorporates sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues into daily practices and interactions.
- Compliance : Maintains accurate records, collecting, compiling and evaluating data, and submitting records to appropriate sources in a timely fashion
- Maintains standards of confidentiality and ethical practice.

What are the requirements?
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred
- 1-3 years of experience
- Must possess a valid Class E Driver’s License with less than 6 chargeable points
- Must be able to take and pass Coaching the Van Driver class and road test within 30 days of employment and remain current at all times.
- Must be able to take and pass all aspects of Professional Crisis Management Level 2 within 30 days of employment and remain current at all times.
