Plant Operator
ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP
is looking for a Plant Operator to join our Operations Services team at our Fort Bliss facility in El Paso, Texas . The position is onsite.
The Plant Operator is responsible for perform operations, maintenance, and repair of systems and buildings at US Army Ft.
Bliss, El Paso, TX sites ensuring reliable, efficient, and cost-effective, long-term operation. Their primary focus and expertise are with facility and equipment mechanical systems.
This individual is on call 24 hours a day / 7 days a week to support or handle off-hour trouble calls.
The essential functions of the position include :
- Maintains one or more systems that provide an establishment with such services as natural gas generators, battery banking systems, and water resilience system.
- Duties as a Plant Operator include :
- Performing a wide range of maintenance functions
- Equipment start-up and operation
- Preventative maintenance
- Troubleshooting and repairs
- Replacement of components
- Working with vendors to provide maintenance services
- Ability to work alone
- Working on a variety of equipment
- Basic knowledge of lighting
- Natural gas engine / generator systems
- Battery bank storage systems
- Water resilience systems
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) equipment
- Performing additional maintenance duties as directed by the Regional Facility Manager
- General duties / requirements include
- Complete regular technical and safety training
- Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications,
- Using a variety of hand tools and measuring and testing instruments
- Able to work safely from ladders, elevated platforms, and boom lifts
- Able to use personal protective equipment including any required for arc flash protection and other safety requirements
- Work on-call schedule, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be within a reasonable commute to U.S. Army Ft. Bliss, El Paso TX
- Meet with government personnel designated by the Contracting Officer to discuss on-going facility operations and maintenance activities
- Ensure outstanding customer satisfaction. Builds and maintains positive relations with key customer management and staff employees to ensure the company maintains a positive image with our customers.
Develops a comprehensive understanding and adherence to customer contracts
- Safety Requirements including, but not limited to :
- Perform Lockout / Tag out of all facility equipment and electrical switching of breakers
- Work in confined spaces and perform confined space entry
- Wear a respirator and / or Fall Protection when conditions require
- Operate a man lift or scissor lift and Fork Lift safely
- Use appropriate PPE at all times
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area (cleaning non-office areas and maintaining cleanliness of all machinery spaces)
Your background includes :
- High School Diploma or GED with three years of related experience
- Basic computer skills required including data input, work order coordination and daily logs
- Documented completion or able to complete OSHA 10
- Three (3) years installation / troubleshooting experience mechanical
A bonus to have :
- Associate's degree (AA or AS) or Technical degree with related experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five (5) years' experience troubleshooting and maintaining
- Natural gas generators
- Engine / generators
- Battery bank storage systems
- DDC and energy management systems
- Prior military experience
