We provide civil / site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing / building envelope, A / V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge / roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer ( new grad / 0-2 yrs. experience ) who will play a key role in performing geotechnical explorations and investigations for our clients.

You'll leverage your growing expertise and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions / municipal agencies, Architects, Engineers, Developers, and project teams to deliver customized geotechnical studies, reports, and solutions.

From initial concept development to final execution, this role will assist in guiding projects through every stage of the land profile evaluation process, ensuring seamless integration and optimal results.

Highlights :

  • Interesting projects ranging from infrastructure, industrial, commercial and "weird stuff" engineering.
  • Projects are typically located in the Morgantown (primarily) to Charleston corridor with some projects in southeast OH and southwest PA.
  • This role requires periodic travel to these regions with relatively rare overnight travel.
  • A company vehicle may be provided (for travel).

Responsibilities :

  • Performing geotechnical explorations, site characterizations, and risk evaluation on developments.
  • Training and supervision of lab technicians, maintenance of quality reviews and certifications, management of equipment inventory and calibration, client marketing and proposal preparation.
  • Ability to work independently on broad projects with oversight / supervision by the Dept. Manager.
  • Providing direction on a project to project basis - i.e. preparing lab testing assignments, reviewing documents, and testing results for content and accuracy.
  • Preparing geotechnical engineering reports.
  • Interacting with clients on technical aspects of the projects.
  • Reviewing soils laboratory test results.
  • Assisting in planning and the execution of subsurface investigation programs - including the understanding of project design plans, locating test borings at project sites, coordinating underground utility clearance.
  • Design development and analysis of earth embankments, earth retaining structures and anchoring systems.
  • Performing analysis and design of shallow and deep foundations and slope stability evaluations.
  • Monitoring and enforcing quality control standards and specifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to read design drawings.
  • Ability to meet schedules.
  • Experience with common geotechnical software or be able to utilize software with minimal training.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, quality minded, and detail oriented.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • 0-2 years of experience in consulting engineering on various civil projects
  • Already having your EI credentialing is a plus / desired

Education :

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to travel, and be physically able to maneuver on open terrain.
