Specifications Writer

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized architectural and engineering firm, is experiencing unprecedented growth. As a result, a full-time position is available for a specifications writer.

Responsibilities include :

• Creating project manuals for vertical construction projects;
• Preparing and assisting with writing specifications for Divisions 00-14 and interdisciplinary coordination of the entire project manual;
• Assisting with product research, evaluations and selection;
• Developing and updating master specifications and providing leadership for formatting of specifications across disciplines;
• Participating in educational opportunities related to building products, materials, technologies and standards;
• Providing mentoring for staff. Travel will be required.

The successful candidate must have all of the following :

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in construction management, architecture or engineering AND
• At least eight years of relevant experience.

The ideal candidate will have any / all of the following :

• Experience leading the specification writing process for Divisions 00-14 while meeting schedules and quality expectations;
• Knowledge of current products, materials and standards including those specified in Divisions 03-14, ICC Codes, and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC's);
• Experience with the following specifications software : MasterSpec, SpecsIntact, BDS SpecLink;
• Professional licensure as an architect or engineer;
• LEED AP, WELL Accredited Professional, or Guiding Principles Compliance Professional;
• Experience developing and maintaining master specifications for vertical construction projects.
