• This is a temporary contract opportunity with The Cigna Group through Magnit, an enterprise third-party vendor for contingent work.
• Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Flex position preferably in St. Louis, MO. Candidates will be 3 days onsite / 2 days remote.

Summary :

Evernorth is looking for a talented PostgreSQL database administrator. The ideal candidate will have AWS and on-premise systems administration, performance tuning and Linux server administration experience.

Terraform and Ansible development and / or automation experience a big plus.

In this role, this person will collaborate with our internal customers to deliver an enterprise-level database backend for top-tier applications.

This person will architect, deploy, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the development and production database environments, providing data assurance to its users.

In addition, this person will need to be prepared to create and support viable AWS database solutions to organizational needs while working in accordance with internal policies and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Manage and maintain AWS Aurora / PostgreSQL database servers in all environments
• Database performance tuning and optimization
• Monitoring and alerting architecture with a focus on incident reduction strategies
• Design and implement redundancy and fail-over strategies
• Design and implement backup / restoration strategies per data retention requirements
• Support for software upgrade and patching
• Mentor team members to develop talent on AWS Aurora / PostgreSQL and cloud technologies
• Provide insight to team leadership regarding best practices
• Diagnose and resolve production issues as part of an on-call rotation
• Open to learning and supporting new database and AWS technologies.

Experience / Education :

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Candidate must be a senior level PostgreSQL & have experience with AWS and ability to read logs to identify key issues.
• Knowledge of AWS networking concepts like VPN, Security Groups, Subnets etc. are a plus.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting in AWS Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail , Performance insights etc. are a plus.
• Development experience with one or more modern scripting / automation languages (Terraform, Ansible, Python, etc.)
• Experience with database performance tuning, scaling, clustering, and troubleshooting concepts
• Experience with DPA, Etcd, HAProxy, Patroni, pgbackrest is preferred
• Strong collaboration skills and experience working across multiple teams both within a division and enterprise-wide
• Ability to quickly learn new database technologies that the team supports
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving, facilitation, and prioritization skills
• Strong technical acumen, able to ensure that technical solutions, strategies, practices, and governance deliver business and customer value
• Self-motivated, proactive to improve environment for the team
• Proven track record of implementing small changes that have measurable impact
• Energy, integrity, and strong work ethic
• AWS Cloud Practioner and Certified Database certificates are a plus

Pay Rate & Benefits :

• Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
• The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is : $44.00 / hour-$59.00 / hour on W2.
