The Health and Human Services Agency is currently accepting applications for the position of

COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST II -

SPANISHQualifying applicants must be fluent in English and Spanish to be considered.

Future Salary Increases July 2024 - 4.78% increase to base pay (2.75% Across-the-Board + 2.03% Market Increase)This position is eligible for appointment at step 1, $69,638.

40 annually.County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for step placement in accordance with Comp Ord 1.3.5.

Community Health Promotion Specialist II's are responsible for independently planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive public and community health education and health promotion programs.

Some positions may also act as project leaders for less experienced public and community health promotion staff.

The current vacancy is in Public Health Services; however, the list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in other departments.

Duties will include, but are not limited to :

Initiates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates public and community health education projects, grants, and studies.Serves as liaison to and coordinates activities with state and local health officials.

Designs, develops, implements, and analyze results of evaluation tools used to assess the community's public health education needs.

Provides technical assistance and consultation to community agencies, health care organizations, schools, industries, and other community groups.

Plans, writes, coordinates and / or edits public health information materials related to assigned program areas for use by the media.

Anticipated Start Date : Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Possession of a

master's degree

from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in public health with a specialization

in public health education, community health education or health promotion from a program

  • accredited by the *Council on Education for Public Health (California Code of Regulations, Title 17, Section 1303);
  • AND,One (1) year of experience as a Community Health Promotion Specialist I in the County of San Diego;

OROne (1) year of full-time (post-graduate) experience in public health education, community health education or health promotion preferably in a local public health department.

Experience must have been equivalent to a Community Health Promotion Specialist I in the service of the County of San Diego.* Click here

EVALUATION PROCESS

Qualified applicants will be placed on a

six (6) month

employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in the supplemental questionnaire.
